I did the 3 day method with my son to potty train him. after 2 weeks he was fully trained during the day but just couldn't make it through the night dry. I caved and put pull-ups on him. He told me when he was ready to wear underwear at night. One day he just decided he didn't want to wear his pull-ups anymore and stopped peeing during the night.
I am doing the same method for my daughter right now. we are on day 3 so she is still in underwear at night. If in two weeks she can't stay dry at night and she is trained during the day I'll do the same thing and put pull-ups on for night time.
Pull up at night until she's waking up dry for a couple weeks straight. Regular diapers went away for good, as did the word diaper. We call the pull up her "sleep undies." I anticipate she'll be in in awhile and have no qualms about it.
We did/do a pull up at night until they start waking up dry. You can't potty train overnight, it just happens when their body is ready. DD1 started waking up dry when she turned 6; she potty trained at 2.5. DD2 potty trained at 27 months but still wakes up wet every morning. She'll be 3 next month.

We let DD take the lead on PTing. One day she woke up and said she wanted panties and not diapers. She's been in panties every since.
Some days she wants a diaper for a nap, some days she doesn't. We let her make the call. Even if she does wear a diaper she almost always wakes up dry and I always tell her "you didn't even pee in that diaper! You didn't have to wear one if you didn't want to!"
We do diapers at night. She still soaks them pretty good. I figure when she starts waking up with some regularity I'll start pointing it out to her. Honestly? She just started STTN about 6 months ago and I am so not ready to screw that up!
As pp said night time potty training is more about when their body is ready. We put diapers on DD for nap/bedtime until she was waking up dry consistently for a few weeks. Once that happened we just asked her what she wanted to wear and she chose underwear.
