Please go to sleep baby girl

I know most of the mommies here have problems w/their lo's staying asleep, I have the opposite.

My lo hates falling asleep.  She starts getting fussy usually an hour after she's eaten  I doesn't matter if she's at the beginning stages or over tired, she has a melt down each and every single time.  She could be yawning her face off, and babbling when she's over tired, but, the second we try to get her to go to sleep she starts screaming bloody murder, tears streaming down her face.  We've started laying down w/her in my bed, she grabs at the covers and tries to suck on it, but, I don't want her to get used to that.  I'm seeing world war 3 at bedtime when she gets older.

Anyone else having my issue and what works for you?

Re: Please go to sleep baby girl

  • Sorry, no advice here but I am dealing with the same thing!  The past few night have been horrible, to the point I have to put Morgan down and walk away because all she does is scream when I try to put her to sleep.

We have a routine that we follow; cereal, bath, bottle then bed!  She was falling right asleep after her bottle but now it's WW3, like you said.

  • Did you recently switch her to her crib or otherwise switch where she sleeps?

My LO gets very cranky when she is tired and the crib is actually the only place that we do not have a problem with.  She has been in her crib since she was a month old.  She will sometimes  scream even when I rock her so I put her in bed and she goes to sleep.  It is like she knows her crib is where she sleeps and she is tired so she wants to go in her crib.

If we are out and she is tired she screams even if we hold her.  If we take her for a walk in her stroller she will cry when she gets tired and it takes awhile for her to fall asleep.

So I guess I'm wondering if LO is used to sleeping someplace else and that is part of the reason she is a cranky pants.

DD is pretty much the same. She does what OPs LO does for nap times..fights and fights. However, at night, as soon as you put her down in her crib, she smiles, fidgets until she gets comfortable, and goes right to sleep. Unfortunately, she only likes the crib at her house- my mom and sister watch her during the day and she WILL NOT nap in the crib at their house.

She's been her in crib for about 3mnts now, and doesn't sleep in anything else, but, even putting her in her crib doesn't work.

We either have to put her into bed w/us through the melt down, or hold her though her melt down until she falls asleep.  And her melt downs include screaming, tears, flailing, grabbing at your face, stiffing up her body so you can't cradle her, and her binkie doesn't work.  It's frustrating and sad at the same time.

  • DD was a pain last night. I think her new trick was the issue. Every time I went in there, even after lowering the mattress, she was pulling herself up. She seemed angry about it after a while. I don't know if it was "I'm so tired and want to sleep but can't help doing this" or "let me out already" making her mad. She finally had a good stretch from 430 to 830. She would sleep for a bit then wake up and get mad. It took 4 hours to finally get her to bed last night, then she woke several times.

I have no advice, just that you aren't alone in weird baby sleep issues.

The meltdown you described is exactly what Morgan does!

My DD does this too, but at nap time.  Today I finally just let her cry for a bit (because I was about to pull my hair out, and DD#1 was yelling her her crib that she had pooped and needed her diaper changed - she only wears a diaper at nap and bed time, but will only poop in them which is a whole other story that left me wanting a drink at 145 pm), then went back in, rolled her on her side with her lovey between her hands and binkie in her mouth, and patted her back for a minute.  She went right to sleep.  Not quite sure why she wouldn't do that on her own!
