  • Not wavering yet! I found out with my first two kids, but really want to hold out for the surprise this time. If I didn't already have one of each, I probably would find out though. My husband is convinced that I will cave at the 20 week u/s. We shall see!

  • Everyone thinks I will cave, but I'm not feeling like that is going to happen.  I just really want the surprise, end of story for me.

  • Ya my husband and I talk about it often. But just think of the end, how amazing it will be to find out when the baby is born. You can still plan so much now and there's always so many cute clothes to buy anytime. You gotta stay team green! Haha!

  • I haven't really wavered at all.  I'm worried that one of the OB staff will slip up at an appointment and accidentally tell us!  But the more I think about it, the more I look forward to hearing my husband say "it's a ___!" at the birth.

Oh no! You ladies are strong! Congratulations on your decisions!!!! Team green with the first baby is just a big NO for me! I think if it was the 3rd and I had a boy and girl I would do it... ahhh no! Probably would not! lol

I canNOT hold myself! I want to know if it is going all blue or all pink! I cannot wait! If the baby doesn't show at any U/S I think I will have a thing!!! wait until the end to find out? Oh no! I can't! lol

Usually I am not anxious (baby is gonna be 12 weeks tomorrow, and no one at work or in the family knows that I am pregnant-none of the grandparents, uncles, no single family member knows! So usually I am good holding anxiety and secrets) but I got to know the sex of the baby! That would be too much for me!

But I give all my heart to you all that can wait! You ladies are awesome!!!! Go green! (not me!!!! tks!)

  • Yes, I am having a hard time this time- DH is not.  This is the second - we were team green with DS and loved it.  I'd say probably one of the best moments in my entire life was hearing DH whisper "boy" into my ear (I had a C/S so could not see).  He could barely say it he was crying so hard.

I'm having a hard time with this one because if it's a girl then we'll probably be done having kids.  So I realllly want to know if it's a girl or boy!  But, DH is having me hold strong.

It's extra hard on these boards right now when you hear what everyone is having.  You'll find out soon enough though!

  • I'm actually from Team Desperately Need to Know, but I find myself super apprehensive about finding out... I have no idea why. DH and I really want a boy but I feel like it's a girl. Part of me wants to wait, or at least have it revealed to us in a better way than just the tech being like "Looks like a __" or whatever. Maybe I'll have her write it down and figure out what to do with it. Regardless, I want to be alone with DH when we find out. Good luck to you greeners!!

A cute idea I've heard of is, have the u/s tech write down the gender on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope. Give the envelope to a baker, and have him make a cake that's blue or pink on the inside. You can gather family and friends and cut the cake together to reveal the gender with all your loved ones. I always thought that would be a fun way to find out.

  • I dont' want to know but I'm dying to know. DH wants to know so I have to stay strong or I'll end up wavering!

  • My husband wants to find out what we are having at the anatomy scan.  I don't think I want to find out.  My husband said that I am the boss, so it is ultimately my decision.  I am wavering though.  Part of me wants to know, but I have heard the experience of finding out if it is a boy or girl after delivery is wonderful.

I'm waiting.  So many people have said to me OMG how can you not find out?!?!  It seems everyone else wants to know haha!  I'm kind of superstitious and don't plan on buying much baby stuff ahead of time anyway (although I'm more likely to waver and buy stuff than end up finding the sex haha) so that helps.  I want to do a fairly neutral nursery and just do pops of color that would be sex appropriate, so that could be done either way.  December feels pretty far off to wait though ha!
  • We are waiting, and I really can't imagine finding out!  I think if we had older kids, I might want to find out so they could start getting to know the baby, but it's fun for us to wonder who is in there!

Plus, I really can't handle a pink or blue explosion in our house...I know it will happen eventually, but I want to keep things as neutral for as long as possible.
  • It's our first baby and my husband and I can't wait for the big surprise the day the baby is born! It's the biggest surprise I think anyone could have in life so we are definitely team green! :D
  • It seems to be getting harder to hold out, but I'm trying to stay strong. It's driving most of my friends and husband crazy though! One of my best friends, who is due in November, is team green too, so that helps a little bit. I think the surprise will be so worth the wait! Stay strong ladies! Just 6 more months!!

  • This is my 3rd baby of not finding out.  It is so hard to be patient.  It is even tougher around this time on the boards since everyone else is finding out.  It is so worth it in the end!  Especially those last few weeks, it gives you something to look forward to and get you through those very uncomfortable times.  I remember thinking several times in labor when I was tired in pain, pondering what my baby would be and getting excited because it was almost here.  It is also a great moment when my midwives ask "what did you have?"  It isn't a moment I would change for the world.  Yes, it is so fun to dream of all that you'll buy but it's more fun to wait!  I also know that it saved me tons of money.  My first two were girls, I think I would have bought them tons of unnecessary outfits that they wouldn't have even worn since they grow too quickly!

This, completely.  This is one of the big reasons we are waiting.  I want my child to have as much time to figure out who he/she wants to be without the gender pressures.  I realize that as soon as it is born, that goes at the window.  But at least I get this time to have the dream :-).  The only time I waver is when I see cute pictures that seem a little too boy-ish or girl-ish.  I wish I knew so I could buy them.  But then I remember that the pics will still be there to purchase in December.  And I'm "not allowed" to climb on stuff to hang pictures right now anyway.

  • We were team green with DD and are team green with this little one, too! I'm steadfastly team green, no inklings to find out early. I think it's super and exciting when people find out early; technology is amazing and people want to plan! For us, the way I approach it is that there are so few surprises left in the world today so I would like the sex of this little miracle to be an in the moment surprise. When DD was born we were so absorbed with this tiny, wiggly thing in front of us that we forgot to ask what sex she is!

  • lol i totally got emotional reading you guys' responses and stories about finding out at previous births. that was exactly what i needed. now i'm super excited again!

  • Yeah !!!!! Team green all the way! I didn't think that many people did this now a days but I am mistaken. We have quite a few people. When I told my doctor a few weeks ago he got so excited ! It was kind if funny because I wasn't expecting his type of response. Also he started typing right away and when I asked him what he was doing he said I'm making notations in your chart so no one will tell you in the office by accident. I thought that was really nice.
  • Yay team green! We are not planning to have any ultrasounds at alland if we do need one, it will be a quickie just to check on whatever needs assessment....but it is HARD!! Especially since if its a girl she would be the first one on either side of our families. And because I don't love calling it an it.
  • Staying strong so far! let's see how I do the longer we wait...

This.  My husband doesn't want to know so I'm leaning on that.  We know a couple in which the wife wanted to know but the husband didn't so the u/s tech wrote it down for her to look at later.  She accidentally told her husband a few weeks after she found out and he was a little sad about knowing before the birth but he got over it.  I think I would have similar feelings.

This was my exact experience with my DD. an I wouldn't change anything this time. Team green all the way. The feeling of finding out at birth is amazing!

this reminds me of how Sookie found out on Gilmore Girls but Jackson didn't want to know. i can't believe she was able to keep it a secret! (you know, because it was real life and all..lol)

  • The first time, yes, I was tempted a lot. But in the end it was SO worth the wait. Now that I know what's coming...I'm not even a teeny bit tempted. That's how awesome the moment is that's coming!

  • If you're not finding out if you're having a girl or a boy (or considering not finding out), there's a website you should know about called NotFindingOut.  It's an online baby registry that caters specifically to parents who are waiting for the delivery room surprise.  All of Not Finding Out's products are paired into girl and boy complements, so you register for a specific item, you just don't know if you're receiving the girl or boy version of that item. Not Finding Out also carries a lot of gender neutral items so you can register for gender neutral items AND gender specific stuff.  If someone buys a gift for you before the baby is born, you will receive a beautifully wrapped Preview Card showing both the girl and boy version of the item they bought instead of the gift itself (since receiving the gender specific gift would spoil the surprise!).  As soon as your baby is born, your gender specific gifts are shipped straight to you. Very fun!!!
