Parenting after a Loss

Slightly freaking out

Okay, mamas, help me out.

DD had a small cut on her forehead and calf.  This morning, I put a small swipe of triple antibiotic cream and took her to daycare.

When I took her out of the car, I noticed that on her forehead, it was red where the cream touched.

I dropped her off without really thinking about it, but now I am terrified that I have caused a serious allergic reaction.  I am going so far as thinking about her throat swelling.

I called the daycare provider and asked her to wash off the cream on both locations.

Please tell me it is going to be okay, I am in a total panic.

Re: Slightly freaking out

  • I know that I used to freak out about everything....so I completely get it!  But, try to relax.  I am sure that she just rubbed the area or something like that.  DS scratches himself all the time.  I don't usually put anything on it, I just let it heal on it's own.  I am sure the redness is nothing to worry about.

((HUGS))  You are just being a good  momma by worrying about your baby.

  • She will be fine. I have very sensitive skin and react badly to most OTC triple antibiotic creams. My very worst reaction involves redness, itching, and soreness. I have never ever had throat/tongue swelling or any other major reaction to a topical allergy. You did the right thing having them rinse her off but otherwise everything should be okay.

    How are you doing otherwise?

Missa!!!   I had the weirdest dream about you 2 nights ago.  I dreamt that you, DH, and your babies lived on my street (keeping in mind none of us have met IRL, so I don't remember faces, just knew it was them).  There was a tornado, and we had to go to your house to take cover.  So weird, right?

Anyways, contrary to what this post might lead you to believe, I discussed my anxiety with my doctor, and that I was having difficulty regulating it with just therapy alone.  She put me on the mini-pill (progesterone only) to regulate my hormones since it seemed my anxiety was always around the time of ovulation.  I was also questioning a hormonal imbalance since that is what the recurring lost testing found.  This past month, I experienced ZERO anxiety (until this minor freakout), and didn't have my usual general feelings of weirdness around mid-cycle.

DD is doing great.  Walking, starting to talk, etc. She is such a delight, we always get comments on how easy-going she is :)

    How are you??????

I'm so glad you're doing well! I'm glad the meds are helping and you have found what works. I'm going to be talking to my doctor about something for my anxiety, it's been getting worse lately. We kept the boys in a bubble for the first year and didnt go anywhere since we were told any illness would result in another NICU stay. Now that we're venturing out I'm having some panic attacks.

But the boys are doing great! J is running everywhere and is a silly, fiercely independent boy. S is beginning to take independent steps and has a few words in context. They are definitely the light of our world! Aside from their smaller size most people would never even guess they were over 10 weeks premature.

I love your dream! Well, not the tornado. But the rest of it sounds awesome! A play date would be fun.

  • Thanks everyone.  I swear, my anxiety is getting better LOL, but this is EXACTLY how it works.  Something gets in my head and then I google it and obsess that something major is wrong.

I appreciate the hugs and reassurance <3  Couldn't do this without you all.
