I mostly lurk here, but have asked a few questions and researched for answers to others.
We just had our tour of our hospitals water birthing suites - and I am SO excited. My hospital just started January 1 with water births - so it was never even an option with my DD1.
We also get a doula free of charge with our water birth. I just assumed (and was okay with it since she was free) that we would just meet her day of. Turns out she is calling us this week to set up an appointment where she comes to our home, gets to know us and then we can go over some birthing techniques, positions, and any other questions that may come up! She will also do a follow up visit with us after we leave the hospital!!
It also became all too real that in the next (give or take) 42-ish days we will be back in the hospital welcoming our second baby girl! Im still pretty nervous about the pain - but I am more confident than ever that I CAN do this med free. Its really nice to hear success stories here and elsewhere too.
Anyways Im just excited and I figured people here would understand more so than friends who think im silly for not wanting the epidural. (Yes, Im so silly that I want to make sure I can walk after birth instead of not feeling my legs for two weeks - or that I want to do what I know I can and have the best experience possible for myself and baby!!)

Thanks everyone!
Im in MN - hospital is outside Minneapolis. It is an older hospital as well - but they have done a TON of updates and renovations - they are doing more renos in the next year to add even more tubs for birthing! I love that they are doing everything possible to make necessary changes and updates for women who want more than a standard bed birth!
That's awesome about the water births and a free doula!
I think it's pretty cool how we can be excited - we're going into something wanting to experience it, not just have it happen TO us, you know?
I need a lot of time between each labor....but at the same time, I get excited for each one to come. The reward is so worth it (the baby) and achieving it in a way that is meaningful to us bumps it up a notch, at least for me personally.
