Cheap Nursery Curtains?

I've been putting off buying curtains for our little dude's room because I haven't had much luck finding bright-kid friendly colors for affordable prices. Does anyone have a recommendation for cheap curtains? Either online or in store? I saw some at World Market, but I think they might be too lightweight to block out the sunlight.

Re: Cheap Nursery Curtains?

  • I just hung curtains in the downstairs nursery (aka room we never use with a changing table and play mat : )  )  The sun hits that room directly, and I found light blocking curtains at home goods.  2 windows with hardware was about $80.

  • We ordered these from Bed Bath and Beyond's website, they are on clearance for $4.99 a panel and come in both blue/green and pink.  They are very sheer so we are planning on getting some room darkening ones from Babies R Us to put behind them .

  • I got black out curtains from target, 12 dollars I think. Kohls also sells them and they have great coupons sometimes.
  • I also bought light blocking curtains from Target.  You'll really want the light blocking ones so it's not so bright in there when baby sleeps.  I think they are eclipse brand.  You need quite a few panels.  I needed 4 for our windows to help block out the light better.

  • Just throwing this out there, but Ikea now sells blackout liners for their curtains for $25 a pack, and they're 96" long. They also have blackout shades that start at $15 (I think?) that we bought and use under sheer curtains. They work fantastic.

  • Walmart Eclipse Kids Blackout Curtains. $12 a panel and are really cute.
  • Oddly, i find JC Penney has the best curtain selection in town for all ages at fair prices.

  • I bought some bright lime green curtains that I love from Hobby Lobby. They were $14/ panel, but I bought them on two trips and used the 40% off mobile coupon each time. So, they were nice and cheap! If you have a smart phone you can just google "Hobby Lobby mobile coupon" and one should pop up.
