My LO is going to be one this week. I've stopped pumping at work and we are BF in the evenings and overnight when he wakes up. I would like to now stop BF at the one-year mark. He continues to refuse to take a bottle or sippy cup from me (actually will only take a bottle from his grandma who is his caregiver while I'm at work). I have tried all sorts of sippy cups, different liquids (water, juice, milk, etc.) and he refuses. The nurse at the doctors office said that as transition him isn't working, to just stop cold turkey. He will adapt to using a bottle or sippy cup if BF is not an option. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!
Re: Weaning difficulties...
No experience but just know that I'm nervous that I will run into the same issue. DD is a little over 11 months and I've been giving her some cows milk in her sippy during breakfast and dinner to try and get her used to it. She's not that interested. She will drink a little but not very much. She does drink water fine out of a sippy though, just no interest in cows milk.
I feel you with wanting to be done with BFing at 1 year. Personally I've never been that attached to it but do it because its cheaper (I SAH) and easier (no bottles to clean!) but I'm not sad to see that relationship end. To the PP, extended nursing isn't for everyone.
