Am I a jerk?

I don't think I'm going to get DD a bday gift. As of yesterday I ordered this:

Fancy wooden swing set

Water table

New bath toys

Disney cups

Not to mention the kids will have a big birthday bash. The above listed was easily 2k. I mean, would you worry about a gift? Maybe I'll hit up the dollar store or something. She's only 2 and has everything. Enough is enough, right?

    When I got DD1 her play kitchen for her second birthday, I just wrapped some of the accessories that it came with and that was her presents. At that age, they just like to open presents. They don't really care about the size, so I would maybe just wrap some of those bath toys and cups and call it a day.

    I say a cardboard box and decorate it...LOL may sound silly but kids love boxes! More than their own toys. Wink

    I think that if we wait to buy big summer items until their birthdays, they wouldn't be able to enjoy it all summer. DH and I have been searching for a b-ball hoop at garage sales all summer for DS's birthday. We'll give it to him whenever we end up getting one. I might just go ahead and buy the one half-price on amazon today!

    Thats why I ordered it now and plan on using it right when it comes in. I would buy the hoop today and when Ds had one, we brought it in the house when it got cold.

    Not only do I not buy Lincoln birthday or Christmas presents, but last year he didn't open his birthday gifts till several months after the fact. They have way too much crap. I would say if you spent nearly 2K then that is incredibly generous and gift enough.

    Definitely not a jerk - DH got DS a gift already, and that might be the only thing from us for his birthday depending on if I can find a swingset that I like or if we get a zoo membership or something else bigger to do for the summer.
