My LO is 5 months. He used to love his baths and be so good for them. Now he has learned that if he kicks and kicks he eventually pushes the reclining part out of his bath tub. He won't lay still for me either. I've tried just putting a little water in the regular tub with a towel underneath him and he throws his arms and legs and I'm just afraid he is going to hurt himself. Also it makes it super difficult to wash him. Seeing as he isn't sitting up on his own yet, does anyone have any suggestions? I put toys in there with him, I sing to him.....he doesn't cry- he just doesn't stop flailing his body around.

Re: Bath Time Advice
DS started kicking and squirming out of his tub, so we got him this:

He LOVES it, and even will start to doze during bath times on occasion. I just lay it right in the tub and fill up the tub with a couple inches of water. It is easy to maintain, also. It just squeezes out like a sponge and dries very quickly.
Big bath sponge for regular tub! $7 at Walmart/Target!

I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!
When my DD started flopping around we switched to a bath seat, I've also used a small round laundry basket so there is just enough room for her legs and tush so she can't slide down into the water, or I've gotten in with her depending on where we are. (We travel to see our relatives on the weekends frequently)

They make tons of different types of bath seats...some have toys and those always distracted my DD while I got her washed up. I always just let her splash around for a few mins before I started bathing her to let her burn some energy off too.
I got two different types of bath seats for $1.00 each by shopping thrift stores, kids consignment shops, and garage sales.

Laundry basket with a solid plastic bottom for comfort when traveling...doubles as a supply hauler!
We moved up to one like this: https://www.amazon.com/Sesame-Street-Inflatable-Bathtub-White/dp/B004FTQ8N0/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1371587229&sr=1-1&keywords=inflatable+bath+tub
(not sure WHO thinks they could put the shampoo in the "cubby holes" without the baby grabbing it - ours didn't have the holes)
Its "soft" inflated on the bottom and the sides so I felt more comfortable that she wouldn't freak out and hurt herself in it and she loved the cozy feeling compared to the big bath. When she got too long and wasn't quite ready to sit we moved her to the big bath with this:

*FYI this stinks to high heavens when you first get it so let it air out
