C-sections

"Natural" C-sections?

I've had a previous C-section, and the only issue I had was the time between him being born and me holding him. I'm contemplating a second c section and I've been reading about natural c sections, has anyone had one? I'm def going to bring it up to my dr when I go next week.

Re: "Natural" C-sections?

  • I had one and absolutely loved it. My OB dimmed the surgical lights, had music playing, dropped the surgical drape so that I can see her come out (which was done slowly), placed her on my abdomen/chest immediately until the cord stopped pulsating. It was hard not to touch her since she was still in the sterile zone. Afterward I got to hold her first and then while I was getting sewed up DH went with her to get washed, measured, etc.

I had a c section with my first and i want it for the second... This sounds absolutely amazing!! I will definitely be looking into this!

  • I have never heard of this but would have definitely preferred it over my C-section experience! Does your hospital offer it?

  • I too had one and loved it!  She was immediately put on my chest after being weighed and everything for skin to skin and stayed there while I was being worked on.  Then they (DD and DH) stayed with me the whole time in recovery where I breastfed for the first time.  It was really nice and I loved having her with me.

I've been reading about it and not sure if my current dr does, I'll be asking tomorrow. Have a whole list of questions, if not I may switch! My last c section I waited a long time to see my son and I would of preferred different

  • wow! this sounds awesome! I know that I cannot do that bc I would start having a panic attack if I saw my stomach opened. Plus I loved that DH got to hold her immediately and help take care of her. I do think this is a cool thing though.
