A man just came into work and sat down in the lobby waiting for his meeting to start. I was nearby, so he struck up a conversation with me that somehow led to me mentioning that I want to visit Washington, DC. He then told me:
"Well, if you see any back men walking on the streets, run because they will try to rape you".
Seriously? WTF! I just looked at him and went "What?!?" and he proceeded to talk about the number of homeless and blah blah blah and then got called back for his meeting.
I am sitting here stunned and speechless. Apparently every black man in DC has plans to rape and pillage white women on the streets. I so wish I could have had something awesome to say back to him but I was honestly just speechless.

Re: Flabbergasted (racism)
Seriously. Your husband looks like he's such a horrible, scary person in your pic! LOL.
This man DID steal almost $500,000 worth of product from our business, so he's not exactly a good example of the human race, but still!!!
Even a minor event in the life of a child is an event of that child's world and thus a world event.
Gross.
I used to manage a kids birthday party place. One time as I was making the rounds through the play rooms checking on the staff, a little boy came up to me all sad looking. He was probably 4 or 5. I asked him what was wrong and he said he had no one to play with. I pointed at another child who was attending the same party and said, "that boy's playing alone right now too, I bet the two of you could have fun together!" The sweet, innocent, knows-only-what-he's-been-taught-at-this-age child looked up at me with the saddest eyes and said, "I can't." When I asked why not, he said, "because my skin is white and his is brown."
This almost makes me cry. I know I will raise K to love all people and not judge and hopefully race will be as much as a nonissue to him as it should be to everyone. Sadly, I live in AL and, as much as I don't want to admit it, true racism is still very much an issue here, especially in your more rural areas. Its just wrong.
My little sister is getting married to the love of her life Saturday, who just so happens to be black. They have suffered a lot of judgement and criticism from strangers and I think it is just ridiculous that anyone would have anything negative to say about it. This is 2013 people!
I'm glad you said this to him! So sad.
Lewispm, you should have said your husband was black. I bet his face would have been priceless.
LOL! He knows MH and knows that is not the case (MH and I work together), but that would have been pretty funny! Its just crazy to me not only that some people think that way, but also that they don't hesitate to express their views as if they honestly believe the rest of the world thinks the same way.
