Baby Names

Marielle

I really love this name and it's in the running if this baby is a girl, but I realized today that there is definitely more than one way to say it. I don't want to say how I think it's pronounced, but it would be really helpful if I could get some feedback on how you think it's pronounced. Thanks in advance!

  • Thank you all so much! I know there are some differences, but so far I see mostly Mary-Elle pronounciations which is exactly how I say it. I heard Mar-ee-el today in an online video and while I didn't hate it, it's just not my style and to me wouldn't be spelled the same. Anyway, I'm glad to see I'm not pronouncing it totally wrong or something :)

  • mar-ee-el is the traditional French pronunciation.

My student Marielle pronounces it that way, but doesn't bat an eye when people pronounce it Mary-elle.

I think if you are in the US most people will read it as Mary-elle

  • I think Marry-Elle.
