Vent: Rain

Went out today to grab a bagel for myself and drop one off for DH at the hospital since it is a long day (5 AM- 9 PM). It is pouring here, and I got a nice lecture once I got inside the store from an old man and the proprietor-- "How can you bring a baby out on a day like today?" Uhh, last I checked, I had an umbrella, his carseat has a canopy, his legs were covered by a blanket and WATER WILL NOT KILL HIM. What am I supposed to do, stay inside every time it rains/is hot/snows? For my mental health I like to get out at least once a day, because an apartment-crazy mama is way worse for my child than a few raindrops.

Re: Vent: Rain

  • I live in Seattle. It rains a lot. Believe me, rain will not hurt them. You should have asked him if he was implying that your number one priority is NOT your child's well being and then given him the icy death stare.

I was going to say the same thing as the others. It rains all year except maybe July/August. Turns out babies can get wet just like we can.

Ha ha! I feel like I'm an expert on rain.

  • Sorry about lame people and rain! I am also from Seattle, and it's normal to have more crappy weather than nice. People just need to but out.

Wow, I'm another Seattle girl and if we didn't just go for it we'd grow mold sitting inside.  I've thrown DS#2 in the Ergo under my rain jacket and away we go.  Or if he is in his carseat I just pull up the canopy and cover his legs.  I've definitely given people the stare of death when they started to dare criticize what I do with my kids.
