11 month old, New daycare for 5 weeks and still cries at drop off...

Hello -

 My LO is still crying at daycare drop off's. This is the 5th week. I know she is okay through out the day since i get pictures sent to me, but I'm still curious as to how long this will last. I still cringe and get upset when I leave the facility. She has also had a cold since her first week starting (never ending). I know it is her immune system getting used to all the changes, but is there any tips or advice that can help all this? She also cries at home if I put her down for any reason. I just feel like she is very unhappy all the time, unless I am specifically holding her.

Thanks for your help, suggestions and tips!

    Sounds like maybe her cold is more than a cold, if she's that clingy at home and at day care. I'd take her to the pedi to rule out illness.

    I'd get her checked out to be sure - but honestly  - at 11 months seperation anxiety could be at its peak.  Other things to consider - is she getting enough sleep at daycare?  HOw is she on Sunday afternoon compared to Tuesday night?  (if there is a difference its likely school - if not it may be a phase in general)

    I agree with all this.  My oldest was just a clingly kid from around 10.5 months till around 15 months.  Then all of a sudden he came out of it & was able to go 15 or 20 minutes playing on the floor while I folded laundry or cooked supper or whatever.  At 7 he's still the type of kid that's happier playing in the same room as SH and I rather than by himself in his room.
