December 2013 Moms

Pray for me?lol!

Well ladies like every woman?s dread I am a bridesmaid in a wedding this summer. The bride just called to tell us that our dresses are in and the first fitting is July 15th. In July I will be about 4.5/5ish months pregnant and at the wedding I will be just over 7 months and now I have to go squeeze my big booty behind into a purple tulle ball gown?fun!

The best part is when we ordered the dresses I was not pregnant so god only knows if it will fit at all. There is going to have to be some MAJOR construction going on in this thing. Thank god I use to work in a costume shop and always order everything I am going to get tailored a size bigger so I can make if fit right.

I tried to do the old ?it?s ok if you don?t want a pregnant bridesmaid I can totally support you from the audience??but no dice! Anyone ever been a pregnant bridesmaid before? How did that go? On the upside I have a valid excuse to not participate in all 4 HOURS of photos she has planned!

  • 4 hours of photos!? good grief!

I've been a pregnant bridesmaid 3 times. The first one I was 27 weeks pregnant in my sil's wedding. Luckily I was the MOH and I knew I was pregnant before we ordered dresses, so I just got a maternity one. Since I was MOH it was totally fine having a different dress. I was 8 weeks pregnant in my bil's wedding, so that wasn't a big deal. The only issue was my boobs had grown so it was a tight squeeze up top lol Then I was 12 weeks pregnant in my best friend's wedding and I did have a bump since it was my 2nd baby, but luckily the dress was empire waist so it worked! GL to you :)

  • Thank you for the laugh. Also, I am sorry for laughing! ^_^ Best of luck to you in this wedding! You are really, truly a good friend for standing in her wedding at 7 months pregnant!
  • I was 7mos pregnant with my DD when I was in a wedding. I managed to find an awesome tailor who made my dress work, thank goodness. I did do all the pictures (it was about 4-5h). But it was fun. the only hard part were the heels b/c they were like 4.5" heels. So needless to say my feet hurt like he!! by the end of the ceremony. But I had a blast!

  • I've never been pregnant in a wedding but have been in one when I wa 4 weeks post partum and nursing full time. I had to order my dress when I was about 7 months pregnant which was challenging trying to estimate how big I would be on top. Ultimately it worked out fine. Get yourself some comfy flats!

You are a trooper! I will be in 1 ? inch wedges. I am skipping the insanely long photo shoot because it?s going to be in the hottest part of summer, outside, in an open field?did I mention for 4 hours? We are doing all of the ?group shots? first and obviously I will go to the ones that will be indoors but I am not getting heat stroke for nobody!

  • I was in my first tri with my DD. So I wasn't big but it was July outside in heat. I fainted in the middle of the ceremony.
  • I will be 16 weeks at my sisters wedding where I am the MOH. Luckily I knew we were going to start trying and made sure to order my dress 2 sizes too big just in case. On the super duper down side she's having an outdoor wedding in July in Savannah, in a square with absolutely NO shade! Thank goodness out dresses are short but they're completely rouched satin and the darkest navy, literally one shade from black! Good luck to you and may we survive together!
  • 4 hours of photos as a bridesmaid?? That's annoying even not pregnant lol

  • You are a trooper I couldn't imagine having to fit into a dress at 7 months! I just saw pics of Jessica Simpson in a wedding today. Maybe that will give you some inspiration!LOL (jk)

Glad you get out of the hours of pics. I wouldn't even do that not prego!

  • I'm in a wedding on Friday and really just don't want to go! I'm only 15w and lucky the dress is flowy and still fits. I'm in another wedding next year when lo will be 6 months and they are talking about taking a huge bus and stopping along the way from church to reception. I'm like can I meet you there?! No desire to be stuck in a limo bus with a bunch of drunk people for hours.
So I'll be praying for you to get through it!

  • I will be in my best friend's wedding this summer at 20 weeks pregnant.  I called the seamstress for the fitting and told her I would be 20 weeks pregnant at the wedding, and she said she didn't want me to come in for a fitting until 2 weeks before the wedding.  I would call the place you are doing the fitting at and tell them you are pregnant and see if they still want you to come in for the fitting.

I have tried on the dress twice since it came in (I wasn't pregnant when we ordered the dress, but I ordered it a size bigger than what I needed because we were trying and the salesgirl insisted that was all I would need), and I'm not sure it will still fit in 6 weeks.  It was uncomfortable with all the bloat around 9 or 10 weeks, when I tried it again at 12.5 weeks, it was wearable/"more" comfortable at that point, but my bump has gotten bigger now.  When I mentioned to my friend that we might need to be creative, she said that fitting in the dress would all be worth it in December when I was holding my sweet baby.  I was like "What?!? How will it be worth it that I made the bridesmaid dress work when I hold my baby?" I think I know what she meant (that the weight gain will be worth it?), but still...

  • I'll be a bridesmaid at 31 weeks. At my sister's wedding halfway across the country. My Dr. doesn;t seem too keen on the idea of me travelling so far for the wedding but it's my sister I obviously can't miss it. I will probably need to order a bigger dress soon since I wasn't aware I was pregnant when I ordered the dress.
