So we stopped swaddling DS when he started getting mobile. He usually sleeps in footie pjs. Well, DH is getting very tired of all the screaming when DS wakes up after having rolled over and believes we should start swaddling again. I think this is a bad idea. Friends have told us to use a sleep sack instead, which we did last night. However, I'm not sure I understand the point of a sleep sack. DS can still roll over and scoot around. Is it supposed to take the place of a blanket?
Somehow I missed the memo on why moms like the sleep sack...or maybe I got it but can't remember because mommy brain has set it. Either way, please enlighten me because DH is convinced it will save us from the midnight rolling/screaming fest we currently are enjoying every night. ![]()

Re: What is the point of a sleep sack?
I don't have an answer to why everyone likes the sleepsack as DS doesn't really care for it. I do think it is for keeping them warm but also because their feet are still "kind of" swaddled in a way. HOWEVER, swaddling won't stop your DS from rolling and screaming...we had to stop swaddling DS because he rolled over in his swaddle...now we are back in the RNP because he is up ALL night in the crib since being unswaddled.....ugh..
Yep. I used the sleep sacks during the colder months.
This.
This is my worse nightmare! I know it is coming soon too. I keep trying to get LO unswaddled but she just is not ready, but she is starting to make moves on the rolling front.
My understanding is that they are replacement for a blanket. I have a few and I've never used them. DD gets hot way too easily. Swaddling won't stop the rolling and the screaming. I think it's a stage they go through. I stopped swaddling DD a while ago and she was fine, even after she learned how to roll. However, the last week has been a little rough. If she's not asleep when I lay her down she will stay awake rolling and getting stuck and screaming. I tried rolling up towels and putting them on the sides of her and she will just roll right on over the top of them. Sometimes I have to put her in her car seat, so she just can't roll over until she falls asleep. I haven't figured out any good method to stop this yet, but I hope she gets over it soon haha. GL!
