Baby Names

does this sib set work?

We've never been at a loss for girl names, but have some trouble agreeing on boy names (we don't know what we're having yet).

DD is Lavender Song H

The (only) boy name DH and I both like is Luca Knight H (Knight is a family on my side)

It just seems so much shorter than Lavender, or something, and I can't tell if they really go well. Part of the reason it might bother me is our girl name is really well matched (I think) and it makes me feel a little bad that I might be favoring a girl or something (I did want DD to be a girl, but now I'm ready for whichever) and then I think that's silly...so just looking for some other opinions.

  • I love the name Luca (that's a cool MN, too!). I think that it pairs very nicely with your daughter's name. GL! :)

I agree with this. The lengths don't bother me. The names do seem to be different styles though.

I think stressing out over sib sets is dumb. I've never once judged an aquaintance or any of my students by the difference or similarities in their name compared to a sibling.

I certainly wouldn't let that be the reason to deter you from a name that you really love.

That being said, I think Lavendar and Luca are just fine. Although Luca's NMS.

They are different styles, probably because Lavender is the only name in my preferred style DH will ever get on board with. I like boy names like Phoenix and Indigo, and DH does NOT. And Luca was the only one he listed that I liked.

I agree.  But since your H isn't on board with another earthy name, nothing you agree on will "match" Lavender.  Not that that is such a big deal.  I doubt a boy will feel shafted if he doesn't get an earthy name, KWIM?  His edgy MN picks up any slack in that department.
