Re: TTC CheckIn!

  • I am currently 8dpiui. Going crazy trying to determine if the symptoms are pregnancy related or just AF related LOL...Trying not to, but it is HARD.

QOTW: I love to read...My favorite author of the, well of the past 5 years, is Jodi Picoult. I absolutely love her books. They make you look at many different sides to some very controversial topics.  She is AWESOME!

Another hobby is softball. We play in two co-ed leagues along with the occasional tourney. I am finding that I do not bounce back as well as I use to LOL

  • I wrote a post a short while ago complaining of my at-home monitoring woes.  I am calling my doctor today (he told me to call him with my at-home results) and I have a feeling he'll want me to come in and do in-office monitoring with ultrasound.  That's fine.  I just really wish this was covered by insurance!  I'm worried about the expenses I'm going to incur from multiple ultrasound visits...

QOTW: I'm really into cross-stitching.  I'm working on a massive tapestry of the Gaudi Salamander from Barcelona.  I picked up the pattern on a trip I took overseas in March.  Because I'm not a white-haired 75 year old lady, the sales lady warned me that what I was purchasing was just a pattern, not the tapestry itself.  I was pleased with myself that I understood her and was able to communicate that I am, indeed, a stitcher with ample supplies to complete the project :) She still looked doubtful.  Just because I'm young doesn't mean I don't craft!

I am also a big fan of Jodi Picoult.  Did you read Sing You Home?  I cried so hard when Zoe delivered her stillborn child...

Currently on Cd7 tonight is my last dose of clomid 150mg. I go in to the doctors on Thursday to check. I will be doing daily blood work for surge, after surge detected will go in next day for IUI before IUI will have an ultrasound check. So I am just excited for thursday to come and see how things are looking this cycle.

QOTW: what are your two favorite hobbies and tell us a detail or two about it! ex. I love to cook and the yummiest thing I made lately was...etc.

I love crafts, scrapbooking, knitting, anything really. Each year at christmas I give my sisters and brother inlaw scrap books of photos of thier kids from the past year. (so three books one for each family) I am starting to knit more I like making baby hats and booties. I know people that are pregnant so i am lots of ideas for the little ones before making my own.

Today is CD11 for me. My CD12 u/s is tomorrow to monitor follicle growth. I did my first OPK test today, and no smiley yet -- I will see at my appointment tomorrow what the Dr's thoughts are on triggering again this cycle. Last month they told me that if I did not surge on my own by a specific date that I should trigger, so I am thinking they will probably tell me the same thing tomorrow. I am thinking that if I don't surge by Wednesday night, that I should trigger then and have the IUI on Friday AM (that will be CD15) -- but I think it will depend on the size of my follicles tomorrow...

This will be my 4th IUI. I am anxious to get back into the TWW, but I am also nervous for another cycle, b/c the last 3 have been such an emotional roller coaster.

Also, I got an email today from the sperm bank that our 3 new vials of sperm (new donor) have shipped, so they should be at our Dr's office by Wednesday, just chilling (pun intended) until our next IUI...

QOTW: I don't think this counts as a current hobby b/c it has been so long, but I LOVE to sing. I have been saying for years that I wanted to audition for a community choir/theater group, but I always have an excuse in terms of the time committment, so I never do it... I have sung at a few friend's/family member's weddings in recent years, but that has been my own outlet other than in the shower, in my car or Karaoke LOL

I also love to read, but I must admit it has been a while since I started a new book. I am really into memoirs. I got 3 or 4 new ones for Christmas last year, but they are currently sitting on my book shelf collecting dust. We are house-sitting for my in-laws over the 4th of July week and are planning a little staycation at their house. Hopefully I will crack a few of those books open then! :)

  • 3dpiui...and believe it or not, time is going pretty quickly! I had a wedding this weekend to go to, and spent the whole time with the family having fun.

All seems to have aligned this month for the IUI. I surged on my own the folicle was 19mm the last check. I ovulated at about 8:30pm on Thursday night(weird I could feel it this month, and took note) and I was inseminated 11am the next day. I am hoping that my egg survived the night, because then it would be ready for the DS! Smile

QOTD: hobbies, I love soccer I have been on a team now for 5 years. I also love to dance, but have had no way to get involved other than Zumba on Wednesday nights.

  • MaryanneN we are cycle buddies! We are 3dpo.

So J's body decided to ovulate exactly a week late this month.  We TTC at home with frozen DS so it was nerve wracking seeing that big canister just sitting in our room while we were waiting for J to O. Luckily though, we are going through ESB-USA and they prepare the sperm to last two weeks frozen at home! It was our first month with a new donor and sperm bank, and if we were using our old bank, then we would have missed this month and had to send the sperm back.  I feel very lucky!

As for hobbies, I also like crafty things like some others have mentioned. No kids yet, but I have already sewed all their cloth diapers Embarrassed.  Also, I have just learned to knit and I'm starting on some wool soakers.

I really like to snowboard in the winter.  I used to go often with my family growing up but didn't have the chance in college and just started to get back into it.  J, my wife, bought me a snowboard two Christmas's ago and we started going together and it has been a blast!

Good luck to everyone Big Smile

My name is A, I am wife to J.  After 7 months of ttc and one MC, we are expecting two baby girls in 2014!

  • Hi everyone. Thanks for all the well wishes for our love party! We had a great time. We are still hanging out with family and friends but will post some pics in the next few days.

We are on a TTC break. I need to start taking the birth control pill to keep my endo at bay and we need to figure out our plan based on finances and such.

Good luck to those in TWW and those waiting to insmeinate.

QOTW: I play baseball in a women's baseball league. It is actual baseball like they play in the majors.
I also love to cook. I make us dinner most nights. I especially love cooking hearty, healthy, tasty meals.

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

  • Currently, DW and I are tracking my cycle in preparation for our first attempt TTC in September. We are really excited! We are still deciding on a donor and insurance, but otherwise, we're excited to get this journey on the road.

Hobby: I love hiking and backpacking. DW and I could spend days on a trail without a signal and be completely happy. We have finally gotten to the point in this hobby (which can be expensive) where we can pick up and leave any time and not have to get anything. It's a nice feeling! DW is currently on a backpacking trip with our nephew and I'm totally envious. I can't go due to a herniated disc :(

I also love baking vegan cupcakes. I'm pretty good at it, too! I just wish our families were more open to new things...instead, they just complain and say they "won't" like it. Lame!

TTC our first. Married to, and madly in love with, my beautiful wife. Living with our fur baby and enjoying 19 nieces and nephews.
    • DW and I have been tracking, preparing, getting medical testing since January 2013.
    • First Cycle: Unmedicated ICI w/ Donor Sperm 08/02/13: BFN
    • Second Cycle: Unmedicated ICI w/ Donor Sperm 09/11/13, 09/13/13, 09/15/13: BFN
    • Third Cycle: Unmedicated ICI w/ Donor Sperm: 10/13/13, 10/15/13, 10/17/13, 10/21/13: BFN
    • January 2014: Sonohysterogram shows excellent lining & tubes have no blockages
    • Fourth Cycle:  Monitored clomid cycle  w/ ICI's at home: 1/24/14 and 1/25/14. Ovulation verified:  BFN
    • Fifth Cycle: 02/2014 Femara 5mg with ovidrel trigger CD14: BFN
    • Taking a few months off to evaluate if we want to keep trying

  • Last week was a tough one for us. Our brotherinlaw, my sisterinlaw's boyfriend actually, basically backed out of donating. We were on our way to dinner with them when he all but said hey it isn't gonna happen and it was all I could do to not cry. It has been a few days, so we have had time to process it. Before he offered, we were planning to use a bank anyway. We realized that in the end it really would be best for us.

So now I will be on the search for a RE, which unfortunately means at least an hour drive one way because of where we live. We were hoping to start TTC in September. Is this still realistic? I was tracking my cycle before, stopped and have started again.

QOTD: We love to geocache. It is basically a treasure hunt using GPS. It is a great way to be outdoors and spend time with friends and family. People hide containers, you find them using your GPS, we use a geocaching app, and then log that you have found them on the website. That is it in a small nutshell. They are all over the world!

I also love to spend time with our dogs. We have three...a miniature poodle, a Boston terrier and a German short hair pointer/yellow lab mix. They are our kids!

    Me: 30  DW (aka C): 29

Together since 2/15/11 ~ Legally married in NY on 9/29/12

    ***CP mentioned***

We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm.  8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy.  We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET.  I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013.

11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.

12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)

    1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

     ****All Welcome!****

We are Mommas to four fur babies - 3 dogs and 1 cat.

  • I got a positive OPK today finally CD18. My cycle has been wacky since K's birth and just started back up again a couple of months ago. We're hoping to try in August I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed that I can make sense of my cycle so we can fly our donor out and hopefully he can stay for a week in case we need wiggle room FF wasn't sure of my last O date but my guess is around day 16 or 17. Sigh... I'm still breast feeding and am slowly trying to wean by introducing meals and now healthy snacks throughout the day. I've read that breast feeding can effect the regularity of ovulation. I love breast feeding but I am also anxious to grow our family.

    QOTD:
Reading, travel, snorkeling, craft projects, scuba diving, home decorating can that be a hobby?!?, writing which I'm hoping to get back into we're expecting a week of rain here in the jungle so maybe I'll make some progress on that book I want to write...
  • Well, I triggered @ 2am on Sunday morning and had the iui at 10 am on Monday, so about 32 hours post trigger.  I was monitored for this cycle and we are praying that everything was timed just right.  Hopefully this TWW will go by more quickly than the last.

    QOTD:
I love to sing, and have been spending alot of time with a good friend of mine singing together.  I am thinking about taking piano lessons.  I like to read and travel and hope I will have lots of time soon to do both. My wife and I have been working long hours but finally have a chance to slow down.

  • Blah...

Had our first RE appointment yesterday and did NOT like the RE. All she focused on was our weight as a couple and how I was 90% more likely to miscarry. Then they laid out all of the tests they wanted to run and all of the medicine they wanted to put me on (metformin & thyroid medicine) even though I am neither diabetic nor do I have thyroid problems.  Then they scheduled me for a HSG test Friday. And explained I needed Clomid and the trigger shot if I wanted to conceive.

It was very frustrating because I know I'm overweight, but she berated us and made us feel like we would be bad moms unless we cut carbs out of our diets completely. And she also treated me like I COULDN'T conceive.  This is my first baby, and I kind of wanted to try it once before all of the medical stuff.

Needless to say, once we left we cried and had a long talk. We decided while maybe she had some valid points, she is NOT the person we want to oversee our babymakin' process. So I called this morning and cancelled my Friday appointment and made an appointment with another RE for the end of July.

I'm hoping to find someone who will let me try an unmedicated round before we get into all of the other stuff! Also, someone who is a little nicer & has a little more tact. A little (ok a lot) bummed, but we'll get through it :)

What a horrible experience! You should absolutely, absolutely, absolutely find an RE who treats you better!

You should not be judged or belittled for being fat. M and I are both fat and while our RE will bring up some of the increased risks for overweight people she never does it with judgment nor does she suggest that if we wanted to be "good" parents we would lose weight.

Also, it is your money so I think you should be allowed to do a natural cycle if you want to. Your RE should explain what they think the pros and cons are of a natural cycle and a medicated cycle and should clearly explain why they are recommending either for you. And then it should be your choice!

FWIW, our RE almost always recommends starting with at least one unmedicated (but well monitored) cycle.

  • Melissa - my two cents, before you go to this doc, be armed with data! I'd go get a simple blood test with your family doc to check your blood sugar and TSH. This way you can show you are good to go in those categories. Until I was 35, I was very overweight but my blood sugar and thyroid were both fine. When I turned 36, it all went to *** and that is when I got weight loss surgery. One thing to note - IRL, a lot of docs consider TSH to be fine if it's under 2.5; for pregnancy, it has to be around 1 or even between .5-1. A lot of people do go on synthroid but NOT before being testing! SHEESH. So check these things out - I was a very "healthy" overweight person, and likely you are too, so having this info may be helpful.

Well, I haven't checked in in a while so here I go.

Today I officially start my calendar. While normally I'd be SO excited, I'm not quite there because we still have factors that could cause us to cancel...

    1) Tomorrow is our appt. with the genetic counselor. The testing on our egg donor was not back yet as of yesterday, but FX they will have it tomorrow. Either way, my doc and I had a good talk about it and she said we'd go on the advice of the counselor - and of course if our donor is negative for the deletions found on our baby, we are full steam ahead unless...

    2) We are watching my ovarian baseball, er, enlarged ovary, as I go through this cycle. My doc said it was NOT a blocker to pregnancy, presents as endo (which no on has previously diagnosed me with btw) and that pregnancy actually reduces endo and its symptoms. So, this was good news...so long as I am ok with pain I might have. Ug.

    3) I'm having my right kidney checked out too - I have had stone pain but have been in denial. I just decided better to get it looked at now before I'm pregnant. I had a CT scan yesterday so hopefully we'll have a plan of action if there is a giganta stone or otherwise I'll just need to waterboard myself to pass anything small enough to pass before I get KU'd.

So, i'm feeling...ambivalent. Which, is actually an improvement :) More soon I hope! For now, I start Lupron shots tonight, and have been on Provera for 4 days and expect a period soon. Suppression check is on 6/27.FX this all happens!

    Blah...

Thanks for making me feel better! My OBGYN recommended three RE's so I have now officially scheduled an appointment with the third one as well. It's a LOT of money, like makes me nauseous lot of money, and I want to be comfortable and to remember this as a GOOD (or at least not miserable) process!

Melissa - my two cents, before you go to this doc, be armed with data!

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to make an appt with my PCP to get all of that checked out. I've always been a "healthy" overweight person, but DO want to get my weight down for 2193134 million OTHER reasons too!

Also, good luck this month. Sending positive thoughts your way :)

  • Melissa - one other thought. Remember that, at the end of the day, RE's care about success rates. I had a fairly overweight friend who they basically turned down because of her weight, because her success potential was impacted. In they end, they are in business - people who are not good candidates ruin their SART scores. It's a sad but true reality... :(

The business of babymakin'... seriously... But I've made appointments with 2 other RE's my OB recommended. So we shall see! I'm hoping one will be willing to work with us as we are. It was a HUGE wake up call for K & I. We've started eating better, albeit not FANTASTIC, but better. And we've committed to doing some sort of exercise each night. It's a start! :)
