Pulling at curtains

We just bought a house so DD will be getting her own room soon. She has a beautiful huge window in her new room  and I really have my eye on some floor length curtains to highlight it. Is this a bad idea? Will DD pull on them when trying to stand up? Do you have floor length curtains in your nursery? how is it working out? DD isn't mobile yet, so I'd love some feedback from those  with crawling babies. Thanks

I don't have them in the nursery but I do have them in the breakfast area (6 to be exact)  So far he has not pulled up on them, I keep a close eye on him bc I was worried about the same thing.  So far so good...

  • We have floor length curtains in the living room and my LO does play in them and hide in them and pull on them.  I hope to get rid of them soon because telling him no isn't really working at this point.

In his room, we have roman shades and they work great.  Really though, he doesn't play in his room so it wouldn't be a big issue for us.  The only time he's in there other than sleeping is if I'm in there putting away his clean clothes and restocking diapers and then I just put him in his execauser to keep him contained.

  • We have floor length curtains throught the house. He would play and tug and pull on the ones in the living room, but not often. The timeframe of when DS actually needed to pull on something to stand was pretty short. Since he could stand up in the middle of a room and certainly since he started walking full time, DS doesn't bother with the curtains.

We also are seldom in DS's room for more than a diaper change, getting dressed, or getting him in his crib.

So curtains aren't really a big deal over here.

  • I don't even have floor length, just about a foot off the ground though, and one of his favorite things to do is play with the curtains. He doesn't pull up on them, but he plays peekaboo out the window with them.

  • We had long curtains at our old house, and DD would try to pull them.  We just told her no and redirected her-she's got to learn that there are things in the house that aren't playthings.  She lost interest pretty quickly.
  • Our windows go down to the ground pretty much and my son loves to pull on the curtains. He has destroyed our blinds. He even pulls on the shower curtain.   We have been working to get him to play peak a boo with the curtains instead of pulling on them. When he decides that he just wants to destroy them we just tie them up so he can't get them
