Fetal Kicks? I'll give you 50 at 4AM

Yesterday, I had my 28 wk appt and the OB & the nurse educator both talked with me about doing fetal kicks. They said I only need to do kicks counts to the count of 10 in 2 hours if I haven't noticed an equivalent amount of movement earlier in the day.

This morning I woke at 4AM with baby being super active. I counted 50 or a 100 kicks, punches, and turns. Amazing she is now big enough now to wake me out of sleep. Hopefully I'll desensitize to this a bit or I'm gonna be one tired mama.

  • I'm 24 wks and she woke me up for the first time this morning with her gymnastics. I agree, it's so exciting! I love encouraging her to keep up the strong ninja skills.

  • You're in for a long 3rd tri if she's already that active...my DD was like that. I never desensitized...towards the very end my OB prescribed me Ambien.

I love feeling the kicks and knowing they're healthy, but mama needs her sleep :-)  At least this little guy is relatively mellow.

  • I've noticed the same thing.  I don't remember DS being THIS active ever in utero.  But this baby moves all the time.  Wakes me up and I can see the kicks move on the surface of my belly.

  • Wow! I'm still hoping that I desensitize. I hear that most babies run out of room to kick very much by about 36 weeks.
