My big fatty of a baby doesn't want anything other than formula (no baby food, no purees, no rice cereal, no cut up pasta) unless it's coming directly off my plate and into his mouth. And don't bother trying to get him to feed himself cause he won't do it. He has no trouble picking up things he's not supposed to have and putting them in his mouth, but not the things he's SUPPOSED to put in his mouth. Example: his bottle, puffs, crunchies, pasta and pick up foods, etc. The only thing he's doing good with feeding himself are mum-mums. He won't even drink apple juice. But let someone hold a beer bottle or any bottle for that matter near him and he's grabbing it! (p.s. we do not give him beer!!!!)
He's 25 lbs at 8 months, so I think he's doing just fine. But jeez, stop trying to eat my food (most of which you can't have anyway) and start eating your own lol. I think he's trying to hard to be a big boy.
anyone else have this issue?
Re: Get your paws off my dinner!
Yup - except with the expection of beer / soda/ pure sugar items (ice cream) - we let her have it - if she's reachign for my taco - I give her some cheese or meat from it..
We had the same issue with her not self feeding and then I noticed she would self feed with a french fry - so I started cutting things into that shape.. cheese strips, asperagus spears (whole), cheese sandwhich strips, etc - she will hold those. She won't eat much - but she'll try!!
We have found that things with texture similiar to rice she normally gags on - its hit or miss - but ya know.. sometimes honestly she just wants to play with my actual plate or fork.. sigh..
I have found soup - like chicken / veggie soup works really really well because she can eat almost antying thats been in there for that long as its super soft.
