Blow outs

We've been having blow outs all of a sudden (going straight out the back,  with no poop or even pee in the rest of the diaper) more frequently than ever! Is this a sign we should switch into the next size up or have you all noticed this issue with Pampers? I usually go by weight when switching, but Kendall hasn't been weighed since 2 months (insurance issue) and will be at her 6 month appointment. What size are your babies in? What diapers are you all using and how do you like them?

Re: Blow outs

  • My LO weighed 15 lbs at her 4 month check up. She has been in size 3 for about 6 weeks now. We use Pampers Baby Dry at night and cruisers during the day. They seem to work well unless she goes a few days between poops, but I don't think any diaper could contain that!

  • DD is 20lbs 10oz and I moved her to a size 4 about 3 weeks ago for this reason. It helped, but I'm still getting a few blow outs. I ignore the weight on the box quite frankly. We normally use Kirkland diapers but I switched to huggies and it seems to be a tad better too.

  • DD is in size 3 pampers. We just wet to 3's after multiple blowouts. That had always been our way if knowing it is time for a size change, we never go by what the diapers say. She just had a major blowout, but I think it was because she was sitting in her bouncer so everything was pushed back. It all depends I what she is in or position se is in.

  • DD is 16 pounds and wearing size 3 pampers. I've noticed she will have side and back blowouts when I do not secure her diaper tight enough.
  • DD is a little bit over 12 lbs and wears a size 2.  She is in the 60th percentile for length but only 3rd for weight so we have to go up a size before she hits the weight limit.  Pampers swaddlers are my favorite.  We have more blow outs with Huggies but I will buy them if I can find a good enough deal.  I just recently opened a box of Target's Up and Up diapers and they are surprisingly good.

  • Yes, definitely a sign to move up sizes.

Cole is in Size 2 (hopefully for a while because we just got a box of 222 diapers!), but he is on the small side.

  • Since starting solids she hasn't had any blowouts but I had that same issue with every brand of diaper. I prefer Luvs.

DD started having a lot of blowouts and once we moved her up a size they stopped. She is in a size 2 and was just under 13 lbs at her 4 month appointment, so she is probably close to 14 lbs now. I tried a bunch of different brands and we use Huggies. Pampers were my least favorite... we always had blowouts with those!

  • DS is about 18 pounds, 28 inches long and is in size 3 Luvs. I have a feeling we may have to go up to 4's in the next month. He already wears Huggies Nite diapers in a 4.

  • dd has had more blow outs once we moved her up to the next size...she's now in 2's..the 1s were getting just too small

we started her on rice last weekend once, then she didn't poop until friday....and she hasn't stopped since....we gave her oatmeal on saturday....i'm thinking all her extra pooping was to make up for almost a week of not pooping at all....
