EBF babies sippies

Any EBF babies using sippies yet? My LO hasn't even touched a sippy yet. I didn't introduce it till 1 year with ODS so I was waiting with LO too. How did your LO's do? Did it affect their nursing?

Re: EBF babies sippies

  • We are trying to get DS to take one, but he really only likes to play with it.  We've tried several different tommee tippee ones and the nuby ones.  I don't want to waste my stash for him to just play with it, so sometimes we'll put water in there, but I'm not pushing it.

  • I introduced it to M around 7 months but she didn't really do much with it until the last month or so (she's 9 months now).  It hasn't affected nursing at all.

  • DD only takes cups with straws. I have other sippy cups but she is not interested at all.

  • He doesn't want anything to do with sippies [which doesn't surprise me considering his hatred towards bottles]. The only thing I've had success with is regular cups, and sometimes straw cups.

  • I intoduced one to Rhett around 7mo old because he kept trying to steal Mathieu's big water bottle. He does really well with it. We use the straw sippy from playtex.

  • I gave Keith one around 6mo with water in it, I haven't been pushing it, he isn't very good at it, and mostly plays with it but I am just trying to get him used to it.

  • We have both a Nuby and a Nuk sippy here. We introduced the sippy pretty much at the same time as solids, so at 6 months. I never really pushed it, just offered it at every meal. I feel like in the past probably 3 weeks or so she has figured out tipping, so she really has the hang of it now. No effect on her nursing!
