Which sunscreen for LO?

I know we've talked about the list of safe sunscreens and ratings. But which one do you actually use? Do you like it? Does it absorb well?

I have California Baby and Blue Lizard Baby bookmarked. CA Baby is $42 for a 6 oz tube. That's outrageous. Blue Lizard is more reasonable ($20 for 8.75 oz) but the Amazon reviews said it's thick and oily and hard to wash off.

Re: Which sunscreen for LO?

  • I was just looking into this too. I'm leaning toward Eco bc it got good reviews and didn't sound as thick and white as some of the others. DD's skin is so sensitive that I can't chance it with the regular stuff.

  • We have the Blue Lizard.  It IS really thick and hard to rub in, but it's not that big of a deal.

  • We've been using Ombrelle for kids, spf30. I've been using regular ombrelle myself for almost 2 decades, so I feel very comfortable using it on LO. not sure on prices, since I'm in canada.

  • Honest.com - $14.95 - I got it on a deal and its worth it - every penny - love it.  I'm awaiting an arrival of scarlets naturals (https://scarletsnaturals.com/) and I love every other product they have so I bet I like it too ;)

We also use this and it's not that bad to rub in! It's only hard to rub in when DS decides not to sit in one place for more than 2 seconds! ;P Works great so far and DS is very fair skinned like DH!

  • I wish they had a sunscreen body wash. A quick bath and they're covered from head to toe - DONE!

Baby ganics from diapers.com, 13dollars for a decent sized bottle. Easy to rub in and wash off and it doesn't break out his skin
  • I really like alba baby. It smells so good, and I use alba on my face with very sensitive skin and have never had a problem. It's easier to rub in than badger (which we also use, but is more expensive). I think it's 4 oz for $10, so still expensive, but 4oz lasts a long time on a baby.

  • The copper tone tear free is a great bang for buck on the EWG ratings, a 2, and you can buy it in almost any store. It's in a green bottle. And, it has been fine with DS's eczema. I also have used seventh generation and badger baby but those are so unaffordable for every day!

  • We use Neutrogena Pure & Free Baby. It works great and lasts a long time. It's a bit pricey, but totally worth it.
  • I love the California Baby sunblock stick, I use it for both my own and DD's face. For bodies I have used badger and blue lizard. I think they both rub in fine, you have to remember that they are using physical barriers rather than a chemical one. Not to mention I'm so pasty that the whitish cast is hardly noticeable.

  • I only use L'BRI. It doesn't make DS scream when I put it on and every other sensitive/safe/whatever one I have tried has made him scream/cry/run away.

  • Those using the babyganics are you using the cover up stuff?  We used it in hawaii and HATED it - it was hard to rub in and then did a weird flake thing .. it did protect.. but still
