Father's Day recap

How was everyone's father's day?

Ours was great! We got DH some Boston Red Sox polo shirts to wear to work and a new pair of dress shoes too. (we are so practical, well they were $168!) We went to church and then out to breakfast with MIL and FIL. Then we literally laid around the house for the next four hours (including an hour long family nap...it was awesome) and then we went out to MIL & FIL's house for burgers and brats. It was a great day! DH's and FIL's first father's day as a dad/grandpa!

Sounds like you had a nice day!
Poor DH is sick so he felt awful all weekend. I had to work yesterday so I got up early and made DH breakfast and gave him his presents. I had attempted to get hand prints on paper from DS but he was not having it so instead I just let him finger paint over a couple of pieces of paper so DH got presented with baby's first artwork. I work with my dad so I at least got to spend the day with him! While I was at work my mom took DS for a couple of hours to let DH nap and brought him tea and chocolate (because don't those things cure everything?!). After work I made dinner for us and then we all went to bed early
But of course I woke up sick this morning. I am hoping DS doesn't get it from me!

Oh yikes. I really hope you and your H feel better quickly and your LO doesn't catch it. (((hugs)))

We had a great day. We went to church, then tried a new Mexican place (which was amazing), then we went over to DH's parents house for a few. DH was actually motivated to get a lot done around the house so we cleaned out a couple closets and did a ton of laundry, then we walked a couple blocks to get ice cream as a treat.

I got practical things for DH, a couple new polos, undershirts and sandals.

Ours started off iffy but ended well! I had bought DH really good Twins tickets, like 10th row right behind home plate. Unfortunately I didn't consider that we'd be sitting in the blazing sun the entire time and it was 85 degrees ! As soon as we sat down, DS started screaming bloody murder, so I took him up to the covered standing room only area and just planned to watch from there, but he was still hot and freaking out. Just as we decided this had been a terrible idea and to head home not even one inning in the nicest worker who had been watching us the whole time called his manager over to escort us up to the fancy AIR CONDITIONED Legends Club for free! We watched the rest of the game from comfy indoor seats and it was a million times better!

Then we went to BIL and SILs for bbq! Turned out to be a great day!

our day was good as well

woke up and dh was playing with dd while i fell back asleep, then she left him a nice big poop diaper

then we went to see my family and then to his for the rest of the day....it was nice bc we thought his dad would have to work (he works on the docks at night, had asked for the day off but told he had to work...then turned out he didn't have to!) so they sat and watched the spain vs uruguay soccer game last night (fil is from spain and mil is from uruguay) so it was nice that they got to watch the soccer together...

got home late, girl woke up and didn't want to fall asleep til almost midnight....so i got some ironing done and dh watched the spain uruguay game again...

i think he had a good first father's day....got him a case with a keyboard for his ipad and a stylus, dd got him a sonic screw driver from dr who...my folks got him a pocket hose and his folks gave him money...not too bad a haul....

Ours was pretty low key but good. We took DD to the pool for the first time and let her splash around a bit. The water was a little cold for her but she still seemed to enjoy it. Then we grilled some dinner and ate on the back porch. Good day!

DH has been feeling kind of sick the last few days. We had a nice breakfast on the patio while DD napped. Then he napped and I took her for a walk so he could get some sleep. Unfortunately she's sick too so it wasn't a great day.

Then he decided to do some yardwork in the rain so he wouldn't miss out on yard waste pickup day. Super fun lol!

We had a pretty nice weekend. DH worked on Saturday, but we had his parents over Sat. night, and we grilled and went for a boat ride. DS let us know he was ready for bed in the middle of dessert, so that ended the evening.

DH wanted to go fishing early Sunday morning, so he got up at 5 am and woke DS. I brought DS in bed with me; he nursed, and we both fell back asleep until DH came home at 9!!!!! I don't think I've had that much sleep since before I was pregnant.

I made DH a killer breakfast, and gave him the card DS "made" at DC (aka, the older kids made it, but DS watched), the card I bought him, and the photo book I had made for him of DS's 3 month pictures. DH and DS took a nap together while I did some stuff around the house.

Sunday night we were at my parents' lake place. It poured rain for a half hour then it was beautiful out, and we had dinner and went for another boat ride.

We had a really nice weekend! Saturday, he went out to his favorite I think it's gross Chinese buffet with his friends and went to play some ball after, while he got out of grocery shopping with me. Then in the afternoon we went to his parents house because his family who are currently living overseas are here for vacation. Sunday morning we went to fi's favorite restaurant for breakfast with my parents and sisters family. We came home and we got a nice long break because ds took a 4.5 hour nap!! Then we headed to a Father's Day slash baby shower for his families new daughter from overseas since we obviously didn't make it to her first baby shower. Ds and the baby are 7 weeks apart so it was so cute to see them together. It was really nice!

I felt bad about getting DH such practical gifts since he got me a beautiful mothers ring but we just had a conversation a few weeks ago about how we need to watch our money now so that in 10 years we can take trips every year and do things we really want to do (plus keep putting money into DS's college fund). So shirts and shoes it is!!

That is awesome...you should definitely call them personally and thank them for having such caring staff.

We are at the beach with my parents this week, so DH got up early yesterday morning to go deep sea sport fishing with the boys. They caught something like 300 pounds of fish. Then we had dinner at the beach house, and hung out.
DD and I gave him a couple of shirts, a new wallet from Things Remembered that I had engraved, and a plate that we painted to say I heart daddy, with the heart made of DD's footprints.

DH and I planned to go to the zoo with DH's parents and bother + family. DH's parents backed out not feeling well but DH's brother, SIL, and nephew were able to join us at the zoo. We got there soon after they opened and had a great morning. Then we split off and DH and I got some pizza and came home to watch movies. I had DH open his presents (a couple movies) and then I casually offered to make some popcorn for us to munch and came out of the kitchen with the popcorn bowl that DS and I had made for DH. He loved it!

I also NIP for the first time!!! I found a small out-of-the-way bench in front of a small exhibit, covered up with a burp cloth and nursed. A couple people walked right by me but the main flow of people was on a different path... over by where the mama and baby tiger was. Totally by accident, but really cool, the habitat I nursed in front of was that of a January mama &baby!

The only downer was that I had to go into work at 9pm. I got home from work this morning at 6:30am... just as DS woke up for the day and DH was heading out the door to work. Luckily DS was in a napping kind of mood earlier so I got two hours sleep during his morning nap. He went down again recently (IG moms know) but that lasted only 10 minutes... I hope he goes down for a bit longer soon, I'm tired!
