PSA: Swim Gear (PIP)

So I bought a kiddie pool a couple of weeks ago and it has been a big fat FAIL so far. I don't know if it's the killer whale sprayer or the cold water from the hose, but the best we've done is have DS sitting on me while I sit in it an he clings to me like a monkey.

His reaction is not of those model children above, let me tell ya.

Despite that we decided to try the pool at the Y on Sunday. While DH was inflating this...

...I got in with DS. I had low expectations because the water was cold. He was clinging to me and fussing. And then...we actually put him that floaty above...LOVE. The kiddie pool is only 1 foot deep so he could touch bottom. He was RUNNING around the pool. So funny!

So the PSA is...go buy one of these! At the Y they said these are the only kind allowed since they're not fully inflatable.

  • We have this because we just got a pool and DS loves floating in it!

  • We have a similar one and Aiden won't use it because he feels too far away and gets scared. He loves for us to just walk him around the pool and let him "swim" on his belly.

  • That's the one we have since Christian was a baby!  Liam loved it too.  I got it at an end of summer sale for like $7.

  • We have one of those floaties for DS. He likes it enough but would much rather be splashing around while we are holding him. It's still fun to twirl him around in it cuz he likes that.
  • Yes!  I own that same Swimways float for the beach this summer.  Glad to hear your DS likes it.  Charlotte likes almost everything having to do with water, so I have high hopes.
  • I think part of why he liked it was because he was in such a shallow pool and could touch bottom and move himself around.

We did go in the adult pool, too.  It was funny because he was floating instead of standing and then sink lower in the floaty then dip his mouth in the water and start drinking it. Ewwww!  I brought him his sippy then hoping it would keep him from drinking pool water. haha

  • I got one of those, haven't used it yet. Good to know it will work well!
