Today was kind of a rough day.
Emily was wheezing when she woke up this morning, so I went into overdrive researching a new pedi for her since the old one doesn't take our new insurance. I'm taking her in tomorrow afternoon, if the one I chose can take her.
Later in the morning I passed out and hit my head on Em's toy box. Both Em and her daddy were sleeping, so I have no idea how long I was out. When I came to, my heart was racing. Turns out I'm having a bad reaction to the z-pack. Now my doctor wants me to come back in and be reevaluated.
Went to my mom's to celebrate father's day, found out my uncle died during the night. I'm glad that he's no longer in pain from widespread cancer, but it's still sad.
While we were discussing plans for heading to NOVA for the funeral later in the week, DH noticed Em sitting next to an odd smear on the floor. She put her hand in it, then brought part of the smear up into her mouth. He grabbed her up and we cleaned her off, including wiping out her mouth. Then we discovered that the odd smear was blood. Cue even bigger panic as we tried to figure out where the blood was coming from. It was coming from the dog's rear end. I'm not sure what's wrong with the dog, she hasn't seemed sick. So we called the after-hours line for Em's old pedi, and also poison control. They said she should be fine, just to watch her. I'll still be mentioning it to the new pedi when I take her in. The dog is also going to the vet tomorrow.
I was so freaked out about Em ingesting poopy dog blood, but I had to stay calm and reassure my mom, who was just in tears. She felt like it was her fault, because she had cleaned up a similar smear in the kitchen earlier but thought it was a spill of some kind, maybe jelly. I told her it was NOT her fault, and that I was sure Em would be fine, but it was so scary!
Longing for a good whiskey and a hot tub. I think I'll settle for a bubble bath, chocolate, and Pepsi.
Re: Mommy needs a Xanax
Oh gosh, sorry all that happened
I hope things get better soon!
I was surprised that the doc wasn't more concerned too, but I have a history of heart problems and passing out, which apparently the z-pack can aggravate. I'm supposed to try taking it just before bed now so that it can't make me pass out but I can still finish the antibiotics.
So far Em seems OK despite ingesting the grossness, but she's coughing more. I'll be glad to get her in to the doctor today.
