Clapping?

Does your LO clap either on their own or with the help of you? My LO does not like to have his hands forced to do anything. I was trying to have him sign daddy's card yesterday and he fought me like crazy when I tried to hold the pen in his hand.

Is this just normal because he doesn't know what to do or what?

DS will now let me hold his hands to help him clap, he fought me for quite awhile, but is cool with it now. He still can't clap on his own though.

DD claps on her own. She learned from mimicking us. She never liked to have her hands held.

Mine still doesn't clap. He hates us trying to clap his hands for him too.

She doesn't like her hands held or motioned to do stuff. She loves to grab your hands though to stand up. She claps all the time on her own though.

DS mimics us clapping. When he sees/hears someone clapping, he chimes in. Pretty cute.

He isn't a huge fan of holding hands either.

Mine doesn't clap on his own yet and sometimes he lets me clap his hands for him. Its hit or miss. lol.. I was surprised to a friend's baby, same age, clapping! Liam rocks like a mofo when he hears music though, so you know, its all good!

No clapping, yet, and he LOATHES having his hands/arms restrained. I didn't even try to do the handprint thing even though I wanted to outline his hand on DH's card.

If you try to make Chloe do anything with her hands she has a full on meltdown. Super drama queen. But she does clap.

Clearly she doesn't understand clapping because she does it when she's happy, mad, or crying.

But the girl will NOT wave!

He claps but he doesn't like to be helped. We had the same fight over signing the card yesterday and I ended up with more ink on me than the card.

I've tried helping him walk holding his hands. If I do that, he sits down and pulls his hands away even though he cruises like a champ. He wants to do it himself.

DS will mimic us clapping or if he hears clapping, he will do it. But he hates when we hold his hand in any way.

J claps sometimes, but it isnt always the right way. He pairs it with yelling, yaayaaayaaaa! He just mimics me.

No clapping yet. He bangs stuff together like cymbals and he will take hold of my hands and clap them together, though.

J will clap but is super stubborn when he does it. He will only clap when he feels like it, not when he is requested to do it. Bull headed that one is.

Jacqueline won't let us clap for her, she picked up clapping from watching us. She claps all the time now. And will clap most when we ask her "Can you clap?" and she claps and smiles and is all happy about it.

Griffin has been clapping since about 6 months. I owe this to daycare. His provider really worked with him on that. He claps a lot throughout the day, especially when excited.
