I haven't fed DS in MOTN in months. He wakes but not to eat until the past 2 nights. Saturday night we had friends over and their kids were playing with him until it was time for his last bottle. I went in my room to give him his bottle and quiet him down but he took less then half and went to bed. He woke at 2am and was up until 4am before I realized he might be hungry so I gave him a bottle and back to sleep he went. Then last night he was up at 2 and I couldn't get him back to sleep and by 3am he was screaming. I was leary of giving him another bottle but he was crying a hungry cry so I did and back to sleep he went.
I know every baby is different but is it "normal" to go back to eating in the MOTN? I am thinking I need to up his daytime bottles? I feel like he's a newborn again and I don't know what to do.
Sorry this got so long.
Re: Suddenly waking to eat in MOTN
Im right there with you, and confused. DD has never been a good sleeper but after sleep training she had been sttn for almost 2 months now. Last week she started getting up in the motn and nothing worked to soothe her but nursing.
I thought it was a growth spurt but its went on for over a week now. Ive been wondering if its related to her new skills of crawling and trying to stand because quite often even though she is soothed by nursing, she is still awake and annoyed if you put her down? Im also considering teething because often her cries seem like shes in pain, she plays with her ear a lot, and I gave her tylenol last night and she finally calmed down about 10 minutes later and went right back to sleep for the night. But I cant drug her every night for months!
I dont know what to do, Im just taking it one night at a time and offering both nursing and tylenol as last resorts only if nothing else seems to work and/or she seems to be in pain.
We were STTN at 3-4 months but then stopped. He had his first tooth cut through 2 weeks ago and right after he STTN for 4 straight nights. I was so excited but then it stopped and he started waking again. I think he's getting his next tooth you can kind of see it so I do the tylenol thing as well and it usually helps but that didn't help at all the last 2 nights. Finally after an hour and half struggling with him and him becoming more and more upset, I tried a bottle and he went right back to sleep. I am thinking of trying to up his bottles by an oz or so during the day to prevent the MOTN feedings becoming a habit.
