Hate F Day

I personally dislike mothers and fathers day. I dont have a "good dad". I have an amazing mom who was the best mother AND father she could possibly be but it is not the same, although I do send her a card for both holidays. I read all the cutesy blog lists of what makes a "great dad" and I just huff. I never saw that as a young kid, my step dad came along later in life, and DH isnt showing a whole lot of those qualities either. Today is just another day.

    I'm sorry you feel that way. My father also wasn't supportive to us growing up, pretty much up until when he died in 2004. I can't speak to the unsupportive husband, but I feel for you.

    That being said, I think it's a bit immature to get 'huffy' at cutesy blog posts and the like. Just because you didn't have supportive dad early on, and don't have a supportive husband, doesn't mean that others shouldn't celebrate theirs.

    Stop wasting energy being resentful of what you don't have and enjoy your mom and your son, two things you DO have. Hope tomorrow's better for you.

    I am all for other people enjoying their day but I feel like far more people feel the way I do than they would let on so I dont want anyone to feel alone in their feelings. I hope everyone had a spectacular day and a great weekend.

    I used to hate it. My father was never much of a father to me. This year I got excited and made DH a card from LO and spent a bunch of time on another home made present and he didn't seem that into it. So next year he gets some new boxers and that's the end of it.
