Hi AP board! I'm Michelle. DH and I have been married for 4 years and I am currently pregnant with our first. We plan to have a natural birth, BF, baby wear, cloth diaper, make our own baby food, etc. We also plan on LO sleeping in our room until he sleeps through the night (or at least a big chunk of it) for the ease of BF and to encourage sleep.
I was looking for opinions on the best way to co-sleep. I have considered using a pack 'n play in our bedroom, a bassinet, and the Arm's Reach co-sleeper but have no idea which will be most convenient. So I guess my questions are: How did you co-sleep with your babies? What method did you prefer? Any pros/cons to any particular system?
Thanks for all your input!
Re: Pregnant with Our First: Intro and a ?
We bedshare and have from the beginning. When DS was a newborn, I made an L shape with my arm and he slept there. Bed sharing was easiest for us because I loved snuggling and having him so close, he liked to sleep latched and I was able to sleep easily with him latched, and he would wake up if I tried to move him.
I've heard great things about the arms reach and about sidecarring a crib with one side removed.

When I was pregnant, I envisioned us bedsharing. Unfortunately, it turns out I sleep absolutely awful with DS in bed with me! It hurts my back and I can't toss and turn like I need to to get comfy.
He has been in the ARCS since birth, and I absolutely love it. I pull him into bed to nurse, and then slide him back over when we're done. No sitting up required.
Thanks for all the help ladies!! I'm thinking that I'll get a co-sleeper at least for the beginning (DH moves a ton in his sleep) and maybe we'll transition to bed sharing when LO is a little bigger/has head/control/etc.
Your input was very helpful!
