Weaning & fatigue????

I just weaned over the last 6 weeks or so and my last nursing was 5 days ago. I've been drinking sage tea which has helped immensely with drying up my milk supply. But... I cannot understand why I am so utterly and completely exhausted! At times it reminds me of how weak I felt when I had the flu. My DF thinks I'm just sleep deprived because we aren't sleeping in our bed but on a futon. But I don't feel "sleepy" per se, it's extreme fatigue. I usually jog every day & definitely don't have the energy for that. Anyone else experience this?

Re: Weaning & fatigue????

  • It's possible the weaning caused you to feel sick. Your hormones are doing a lot of changing.

  • I don't think that much fatigue is normal. When I weaned my older two I don't remember experiencing anything Like this. I think if I were you I'd go see the Dr. Maybe check thyroid levels and do some blood work. I'd be concerned and wouldn't just blame it on weaning.

  • I don't have AF yet but I've been expecting to get it any day since my nursing has been greatly reduced lately & especially now that I'm done.

  • You mentioned the flu, could it possibly be mastitis?  Its supposed to feel just like the flu.  Maybe feel around for any clogged ducts?  Did you stop cold turkey?  I think even if you didn't you run the risk of clogged ducts when weaning.
