My son has been on Nutramigen since around 10 weeks. He had horrible colic and painful reflux that we treated with meds. He is now a fairly happy baby and does not have MSPI or an apparent medical need for a special formula. Our ped. says we can try to transition off of it at six months. I'm wondering if anyone successfully made the switch from a special formula to a standard one? If so, what brand do you use now? Did you transition all at once or slowly?
Re: Nutramigen or Alimentum Transition
We just recently switched DD off Alimentum successfully and she is soooooo happy now. She basically had the same background story as your DS. First we tried switching to similac you but she didn't like it. Then we tried the new similac total comfort and its been amazing. I added 1 once of the new with the old stuff ... Then about every 3 days I added another ounce of new to the bottle. It was a long slw process but I wanted to make sure it didn't hurt her belly or make reflux worse. She actually started drinking 8 oz bottles one we completed the switch where before it was a struggle to her to finish 4 oz bottles.
With DS we were unable to successfully switch to another formula. At 12 months he started drinking soy milk and by 18 months WCM.
