Help! What started off as baby acne is now a rash.

My LO started getting baby acne around 5 weeks. The pedi told us to leave it alone as it would go away. He is now 3 months(14 weeks) and what was baby acne on his cheeks and chin is now a rash that will not go away. It doesn't appear to itch or irritate LO, but it has its good days and its bad. Sometimes it seems raised... sometimes it seems smoother. 

We've been using Aquaphor and can't really say it's been helping.

Anybody have any similar issues or experiences? Any help is appreciated.

    I am no expert so I am not sure if this is what your baby has, but it sort of sounds like the eczema that my little guy has.  It has good days and bad, sometimes raised, sometimes not.  Before we started moisturizing regularly, it was mostly bad days and it would get scaly and sometimes ooze clear fluid.  The thing that is different b/t your baby and mine is that it does irritate my little guy and he scratches at it if we don't treat it.  Although I have heard that eczema symptoms/severity can vary from one person to the next.  If you do find out that it is eczema or some other skin condition, I made lotion out of my breastmilk and it is really helping my little guy's eczema.  Here is the recipe I used (sorry it's not clicky):

    I used coconut oil instead of grapeseed oil. Good luck!

    My daughter had a mix of acne and a rash around 5 weeks also.  The doctor said to put cortizone or hydrocortizone on it.  We did that and it all cleared up in a week. No more acne, no more rash.

    This. We've had to use the hydrocortisone cream a few other times but its cleared up now

    After further research I think it actually might be eczema. :

    But I am going to try the hydrocortisone cream with hopes that it helps.

    Sounds like eczema my baby was prescribed desonide ointment for it and it works wonders

    Hydrocortisone clears up eczema really quickly, you will see an improvement within a couple days. Do you notice a pattern with the flare ups? I figured out that DD's eczema (which was all over her body) got worse when I ate dairy so I stopped eating milk, cheese and yogurt. No more eczema! I still eat hidden dairy and she is usually fine.

    I would suggest trying Ava Anderson's diaper cream on it - I know it sounds odd, but it's become famous for soothing eczema when nothing else does. It's a calendula-based cream, and it's nothing short of miraculous.
