Achiles injury

I am currently trying to deal with what I am assuming is a pulled Achiles tendon. It started when I ran my normal 4 miles on Sunday so I waited till Thursday to run again. It was a struggle and I am pretty sure I damaged it more. Has anyone dealt with this before and how long should I rest before running again?

Re: Achiles injury

  • I've had the injury before. Depending on how injured, you will need to rest and may want to consider PT for it. Rest. Rest. Rest. Don't push it. It will talk to you, more like yell at you, if it feels you are returning too early. Feel better!

  • What makes you think it's an achilles injury? It would be best to have it checked out so you can rest/recover properly now. My mom had injured her achilles when she was in her late twenties and chasing around a couple kids. In her early fifties, she had to have her achilles tendon reconstructed which was a LONG and painful recovery. She was one who would just "tough it out" and rest it instead of going in. She didn't know she had actually torn it until she had an MRI later in life and they found all of the scar tissue. Moral: Get in there and get it checked out!! I'm in week 28 of my pregnancy and still running, and I'm hoping to not encounter any tendon/muscle injuries that will put a stop to my activity! I hope it isn't a bigger problem and can be healed with a bit of R&R and perhaps a change in activity type! GL!!
