Hi everyone,
My name is Jill and even though both of my children were TTCAL I never have been on this board. But since my third loss almost 2 weeks ago I feel like I will need more support than other times. This board seems to be where I fit the best
.
Brief history: missed miscarriage in 2007, twin loss in 2008, birth of daughter (surviving twin) in 2009, birth of son in 2010, missed miscarriage in 2013.
I will go in for RLT soon. I am hoping they will do it at my post op D&C appointment at the end of the month, but depending on my HCG levels I may have to wait another few weeks.
Questions: If you had RLT, what did it entail and what did they find (if anything)? I have been finding a lot of conflicting information, even on reputable websites like ASRM. I just want to know what to expect when I go to my appointment so that I can ask good questions and make sure I am covering all of my bases.
If you had a D&C, when did you actively start TTC again? My OB hasn't said much, and with my first D&C in 2007 my husband deployed 2 weeks after the surgery so we didn't TTC for awhile. I want to give my body some time to heal, but I also am anxious to start again as I am not the youngest chicken on the block and have taken a long time to get pregnant in the past.
Thank you in advance for any answers you can give.

Re: Intro and a question :)
I cannot answer your question about the testing but as for the ttc after d and c I would call your ob and see what they say. He or she should know your particular medical history better and would be better able to answer that question. I myself, was told to wait 2 cycles.
Please check out the blog located at the top of this page, it is great for newbies to this board.
::hugs:: I hope you have a short but sweet stay here.
Welcome! I'm so sorry for your losses! This board sounds like a great fit for you!
I haven't had the complete RLT done, just chromosomal testing on the fetus. I do think that since there is conflicting information, there's a possibility that it's different based on what the doctor thinks is best for each patient. Or difference between doctors offices. It might be best to just call them so you can get an idea of what to expect.
As for TTC after a D&C, it all depends on your unique situation. This is another great thing to call your doctor about. My doctor originally said to wait 2 cycles, but at my D&C follow-up appointment said my body had healed so well (quickly) and I could start trying again after 1 cycle.
Good luck to you. I hope your stay here is short and sweet!

I wanted to welcome you to the board and invite you to join us on the Multiple Loss Check In. If it applies, there is an AMA Check In as well. Both happen weekly, just keep an eye out.
Also, I'm also a military spouse [Navy], so if you need an ear for things on that front, give me a shout.

I am so sorry for your losses, but welcome to the board.
I don't know how much information I can give you about testing, since I've only very recently joined the "multiple loss club". I can only tell you what my doctor has done so far.
He ran blood work on me and DH. For me, he's checking mostly for clotting disorders, since my losses have been early. And for DH and I, he's running some chromosomal testing. I've also had a sonohysterogram to check for any septums, or abnormalities on my ute. No need to check my tubes or ovaries, or do an SA for DH, since we have no problem getting pregnant, just staying that way. I go in to discuss results on Tuesday.
I know there are several ladies here with much more experience (sadly) than I, so I hope they can chime in with some advice. I know the blog (located in the header) has a ton of info for RPL testing, so check that out too. I hope you can get some answers soon. Good luck to you.

Thank you!
I have had an HSG and SHG because, sadly, after my first loss I went over a year without a pregnancy and had to do a "secondary" IF work-up and then subsequent treatments. I don't have any abnormalities however I do have a few fibroids which, to this point, have been blown off. I will ask the OB about them at my appt.
I'm looking forward to the blood work (well, looking forward to some information at least). They haven't mentioned testing DH which surprises me (he has had several SA so we could skip that, however genetic testing might be smart). I'll have to ask about that too.

~All AL'ers welcome~
I'm very sorry for your losses. I'm sure you will find this to be a supportive community, just as I have!
As for my testing, we did the tests for clotting disorders (factor V Leiden, prothrombin G20210A, homocysteine, protein C & S, antithrombin III), anti-beta2 glycoprotein antibodies, anticardiolipin antibodies, lupus anticoagulant, PCR for MTHFR gene mutation and they did chromosomes on the baby. The chromosomes for baby came back with a translocation trisomy, so they then sent my DH and I to have our chromosomes drawn. DH's came back with a translocation (this is what our losses have been attributed to). I also came back as homozygous MTHFR C677T gene mutation but both a MFM doctor and my OB do not think this needs treatment because my homocysteine levels are normal.
As for TTC after a D&C, we waited 2 cycles after our first loss and 3 after our second but that was mainly due to waiting on testing results. Best of luck to you as your get your testing done and continue TTCAL and welcome!

Welcome Jill and I'm sorry for your losses. I had had three losses and currently undergoing RPL testing. They did chromosome testing on DH and I. All of that came back normal. They also drew clotting factors and immune blood work. I also had an HSG. My RE benched us for 3 months while undergoing testing. I did have a d&c and my MFM benched us for 6 months. Every doc is different and I would definitely ask your doc.
