Crawling

Anyone's LO's crawling yet?  Like real crawling on hands and knees, not army style?  DD has been up on her hands and knees, rocking back and forth for about a week now.  Today she tried to move one hand and one knee, but toppled over.  How long does the rocking typically last before actual crawling begins?

Also, anyone else have a LO who looks like they're trying to bear crawl (or do downward dog) instead?!  She likes to push up on her hands and feet in a v position, and then just sits there looking at me haha :)

Since DC was 5 months old she had crawled, she never army crawled. My 2 DC army crawled for a few months before traditional crawling then did that for just a week or two before walking at 11 months old.

  • DD gets into position and rocks but no forward movement yet. She only recently got her knees up like that and now she naps with her knees under her sometimes.

  • She's been crawling for a few weeks. She combines all if the various crawls throughout the day. She does the downward dog a lot, she also does legs lifts. I always say she's practicing her yoga.
I think it took about two weeks from wobble to crawl.
Yesterday she figured out how to pull herself up from the downward dog position.

  • N has been getting up on hands and knees and then sort of wiggling himself around....it's actually pretty hilarious to watch. L does the "downward dog" position when he's on his tummy, and can inch forward, but isn't even consistently rolling from back to tummy yet. They're not turning 6 months til the end of this month, though, and will then only be 5 months adjusted, so I think they're doing ok.

  • My lo still hates being on tummy most the time. She likes to be on me, like my lap and will lunge forward and just today lunged off my lap and onto her knees but she got annoyed pretty fast. She prefers to be held and its hard the last couple weeks to get her down at all for any length of time. She has been SUUUUUCH a mommys girl. I think because of the wonder week.
She likes when we hold her up so she can stand in front of her toys to play lol

Thank you for answering - I think your LO might be the only one who's actually crawling!  Sounds like we might have another week or so left, huh?  There are 3 babies at daycare, all of them 1-2 months older than her... and all of them have started crawling in the last 3-4 weeks.  I think she's suddenly like "don't leave me behind!!"  The girl's gotta be in the action.

  • Margo does not do the traditional crawl yet. She does however, when on her stomach, do what looks like downward dog then pushes herself forward. I swear she's going to have brushburns on her head!

From what you described, I'd give your LO a week or two max!

  • We decided that LO officially crawled a few weeks ago. She's was having fun doing an impression of an inch worm last night (instead of falling asleep) ... we figure it is just a matter of time.

So today, she decided to get up on her hands & knees, head up for the first time.

    Lucky us.

  • Killian does the downward dog thing a lot but he will also pull himself up onto his hands and knees, get a toy or the dog or a person in his sights then flops back down onto his belly & wiggles his arms and legs as hard as he can, then pops back up to see if he made an progress. He gets really frustrated after awhile because he's not actually moving anywhere but he's got the concept down so well - move arms & legs and move in a direction you pick.... we will get there soon I think
