Talk to me about your first days a new job

How long did it take you to really get the hang of things?
I started an intern position on Wednesday.
I've only been there for 3 days. I'm getting better and more confident, as in, not a ridiculous hot mess, as the days pass.
I have made a few errors naturally. Even the people working there before me made errors....
But I'm just wondering how long it should take to really get the hang of things?
I kind of feel like a complete a asometimes asking "what should I do?"
So I just figure it out myself, as I should,
But I just feel soo..... New...

  • Being new at a job sucks! I've been at my job a year and I'd say it took me a good 3/4 months to feel like I knew what the heck I was doing and like I belonged.

  • LOL
    I feel so dumb.
At least I'm not a ridiculous stuttering nervous wreck like I was the first day.
I guess it's going to take longer than I thought!

  • I'm about a month in to my new job, and I'm still lost. I think part of the reason I feel that way is because they're not sending me much work, and I hate not being busy and only working on 'busy work'. I'd really like to see this job grow in to something, but if I can't procure work soon I can't see them making my job permanent in November when this contract ends... which is another thing about this job that unsettles me.
