So I was perusing the baby name board and there was a discussion about whether or not the name Kendrick was a boy or girl name. Some people went as far as saying it was a terrible, horrible name. I got offended since that is my son's name. Anyone else feel their mama bear come alive if someone doesn't like your LO's name or says something bad about it?
Discuss.
Re: Baby Names
We went into naming C knowing that people would judge us, however we willingly chose to give her a boy name and she fits it perfectly.
Everyone always asks is Charley is short for something and we thought about naming her Charlotte and calling her Charley but she is not a Charlotte at all.
I don't even go on the baby name board anymore because they rip on every name which is fine, their opinion I just don't want to feel like I need to defend my choice...my kid, my choice.

I think of Kendrick as a boy's name, but my best friend in kindergarten was a girl named Kendall, and I've heard that go either way. Basically, I don't really GAF what people think about DS's name. My name is Mae, and I hated it until HS because I just wanted a "normal" name. But now I kind of like it because it's classic, and hopefully our LOs will like their names too.
My DD is Jade. Only my mom teased when she realized it was a stone. But only said it once. Although she joked that we would name the next one Ruby, which she hated.
My DS is Nathaniel Bertram. MIL hates it. She thinks it is a far too long name for a baby. I had to remind her that he will grow up. She always calls him Nathan. whatever
A few people asked about Bertram. Saying it was weird, or a last name. We explained that it is an alteration to masculine of my mom's name. She died several years ago. No one said another word.
With my exH we would have named a son Ash. His grandmother hated that, comparing the name to cigarettes.
I ignore people for the most part.
Thanks girls! I love Kendrick's name. It rubbed me wrong, KWIM? And I'm not being biased b/c this is my BMB but I like all of our LO's names!
A woman the other day asked my girls names and I replied, Emerson and Ellis. She responded, oh you wanted boys?
We happen to like gender neutral names and we liked the idea of just picking names once, if they had been boys they would have been Emerson Reed and Ellis Reese. Since they were girls they are Emerson Lily and Ellis Willow, we call them Emmy and Ellie. People constantly tell me Emerson is a boys name and can never get Ellie's name. They call her Alice. DH and I love them and hopefully the girls will love their names too and that is all that matters.
Emerson Lily 6 lbs 13 oz & Ellis Willow 6 lbs 9 oz
We get different opinions on Zander's name all the time. Most people like it but think its with an X
. The biggest issue was have is some people think it's made up, like SD12
. We were watching the show, 1600 Penn, and the little guys name is Xander and she was just all, wow it's really a real name? We said, yes it's a real name. She says, did you see this show before and named him after that boy. Us- No it's a new show but the name is getting popular.
If we were having a girl, I was going to call her Rory (Gilmore Girls!!)
. I love Charley for a girls name and I've heard Kendrick for a girl but I think it works for both. It's a universal name.
My name is Jessie and people confuse it all the time for a guy's name. I was named after my great grandma but my mom added the i in it cause to her that made it more of a girl's name.
