Hi! My husband and I will (hopefully) be up in Charlottesville in July-September for military training taking place at UVA. You never know with the military...
And to top it off, I'll be nice and pregnant and due in in November. I have a wonderful midwife down here, but I am looking for a midwife up around Charlottesville or within an hour drive who can see me for about 3 months until training is done and we can move back.
Part of me thinks I'm crazy for moving, the other part says this will be an adventure.
I've been looking into Brookhaven birth center. Any reviews? Even an OB would be fine, but I'm hoping for a midwife for cost's sake. Who did you choose to go with?
Re: Charlottesville area birth centers/midwifes
Hi there. I doubt you will see this since the post is a few months old now but if so...here goes!
I live in the Harrisonburg area and the Brookhaven center is gorgeous. I don't really know much about the midwife, other than she is young and has fought hard to get the center open (due to much flack from the community about it not being a medically-supervised birthing center). It is directly across the street from a Rockingham Memorial Hospital if any issues arise.
The rooms are beautiful and serene. After I had my daughter, we visited there since my newborn photographer had some of my daughter's pics displayed on the walls. It really is nice. It would be a considerable drive for you from Charlottesville (a little over an hour) but if that's not a huge concern, go for it.
Best wishes and welcome to the area.
