So I am going to see my mom in Hawaii in a few weeks (my whole family lives there).  My mom did not want me to have to carry the carseat and base through the airport and she wanted one already installed in the car when she picked me up.  So I agree.  So last night she calls me and is very flustered because she can not get the cover off of this convertible seat that she borrowed from a friend.  So I tell her to go to the safetyfirst website (that's who makes the seat).  Then I question her on why it needs to be washed so badly (and I am glad I asked this).  She said it has been sitting outside for about 6 months and had a dead geko on it....ARE YOU FRIGGIN SERIOUS!  I told her don't worry about taking it apart I can bring my own seat it is not that big of a deal....oh no but wait...she has to make it a big deal!  I am at the point where I am just going to order a 40.00 carseat off walmart.com and have the damn thing shipped to her so she can install it and have it ready when she picks us up.  Does she not freaking realize this is a safety item NOT a luxury!

    Haha I would never let that happen. I would bring my own and tell her we aren't using the used one, if she wants one installed go buy one. i wouldnt be comfortable with a carseat from someone i didnt know. Especially if ya been sitting out for that long
    My mil told us she would buy our travel system, then called us while at a garage sale telling us she found the one she wanted for us and was going to send a pic. Heck no! It was so old. It looked like the one my cousin had when she was little, and she is about to graduate high school next year. We finally showed her the one we were going to buy ourselves and she bought it. Thankfully. Agreed on carseats are safety not luxury.

    Oh my gosh. I think my jaw hit the floor with that one. I'd buy one too and ship it to her.
    And how could a friend lend a cat seat with a dead gecko in it?!?
