  • Eamonn is awesome, one of my neighbors just used that.

DH is full Irish and wanted to use Rory or Kieran for a boy.  We decided to go with more common and not Irish in origin but used by Irish.  We have a Martin - we call him Marty, Emmett & Owen (I know Owen is popular right now, but not in our area.  All DH's relatives and our old Irish neighbors love it and say its a great, rarely used name... I should tell them to sign up for TB because its on here all the time!).

Another neighbor has a Hugh, which I absolutely LOVE and was tempted to use anyway because it's a family name for DH.

So, my list would be Eamonn, Rory, Hugh, Emmett

    also, is Emmet Irish

edit: no but I can see why you mentioned it as an alternative to Aiden/Liam

Live in Illinois... I stated Emmett is not Irish in origin but used by Irish. Martin & Emmett have German origins I believe, but are commonly used by the Irish... at least that is what my in-laws tell me and they have both names used on both sides of their family going back several generations. So, basically they are family names.

I live in an area with lots of Irish families and they tend to lean toward classic names like Michael, Daniel, Patrick. But there are also a few Liam, Conors, Aidans.

  • I love Lachlan and Callum
