5:30 am feed?

We have moved to our new place, LO has his own room, and I'm trying to cut LO's 5:30 am bottle; he would drink it and goes back to sleep for about an hour or so. He does not seem to want to give it up. I don't want to keep giving it in the crib anymore, especially now that we finally moved up from level 2 to level 4 nipples (oops, put that off awhile and he can pour the milk everywhere). Anyone else deal with this?

Re: 5:30 am feed?

  • My LO still does this too except his feed is at 4 am. It really stinks but I figure that since he's down by 8pm, really he's waking after 8hrs of sleeping so I really can't complain. What time does your LO go to bed for the night?

This is us as well. Anywhere between 4 and 5. Eats then back to bed till around 7.

  • I hate writing on my iPad so I will write to you tomorrow. I'm a little tipsy also so the two are a disaster waiting to happen. We had the same problem and broke it. I'll reply on a computer tomorrow!

  • Glad to hear we aren't the only ones, sucks that nobody seems to have a good solution except drunk @ss megs who is leaving me hanging until tomorrow.  OH MEGS YOU CRAZY BIYATCH.  I've tried water for the past few nights and he is not satisfied.  But, like I said, I'd rather not continue the bottle in crib habit, especially with the level 4 nipples that leak everywhere.  I suppose I could use level 2 nipples solely for the mornings.  Also, he goes down for the night between 7:30-8:30 pm, and he is sleeping soundly most nights, so I suppose I can't complain.  I really just need to go to bed earlier, which obviously I'm not doing ATM.

  • Dumb question ahead... what would you do if this was happening at 4am instead of his usual 5:45?? If the answer is ignore it, that is what I would do. Or that is what I do actually. My rule of thumb is if its before 6am she needs to work it out because its a habit. And she goes to sleep at 7pm daily. Anything before 6am I don't feed. She usually goes back to sleep on her own.

  • If he has a bottle at 5:30 or 6, he'll usually eat again at 8:30 or 9.

Same here. Dylan is up for the day some time between 6 and 7 lately, but sometimes it slides to 5:30 or so. I let him be til at least 6 and give him his bottle shortly after since he is hungry in the morning! But he's up for the day then. When's the next time your DS eats after the early morning bottle?

This is exactly what I do. Sometimes she will try the 5:30 thing at random. But I noticed a while back that if I left her and didnt get up right away and come to her, she would go back to sleep. Then the next day she slept till her normal time. FTR she wakes up any time between 6-7am. After 6, I'll give it to her, before then I dont give in.

Also, this is if she isnt sick or something crazy. If she is just normal and waking up randomly I ignore her.

  • Me too. In the meantime, tonight I give up; I have set up the 6 am bottle ingredients. Here's hoping he doesn't cry for it before 6!

  • I nursed Caleb after 1yo and the 530 feeding was the last to go. He would sleep til 7 or 730 w the 530 feeding. BUT after I weaned him, he wouldn't go back to sleep and was up for the day at 530. So, no real advice, just telling ya I KWYM
