If You Did 'No Cry Sleep Solutions'

I think MH and I are going to use this method starting tonight. If you used this sleep training approach, was it successful?  I am going to see if the library has the book by Elizabeth Pantley. If not, I will buy it, I guess.  What is the gist of the method? Is this the one that has you pick them up as soon as they cry, settle them down, then put them back down, rinse and repeat until they fall asleep? What were your experiences with it? Any tips, insight and advice would be greatly appreciated!  FWIW, I am aware that "no cry" trainings can take much much longer than any CIO techniques, I am okay with that. TIA!

  • We tried it. It did not work whatsoever and was a huge waste if time. That's not to say it won't work for you, but in the end what worked was advice from Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Babu. I would recommend this book if NCSS doesn't work for you. Good luck!

Thank you!  I guess I should just take out any and all books about tear free sleep training!

I tried that one with Nathaniel. It didn't work for us and we eventually went with the sleep easy solution. Good luck! Next to potty training, I think sleep training is the most stressful thing for a parent.

And my "to read" list gets longer, lol. Something has got to give! I figured that eventually she will be ready to put herself to sleep and STTN, but so far, nothing. Mama needs some good sleep, so we have to try something!

I read Sleep Easy and used it a few months ago but recently I did more of a combination between sleep easy and no cry. Basically I did check ins every 5 minutes, laid him back down, and rubbed his back for a minute or two.

This is what we did too. It seemed to work pretty well.

  • Tried it for 5 weeks of unsuccessful hell. Then gave in and did Sleepeasy and had him STTN and self soothing in 3 miserable nights. No cry solutions did nothing for us but frustrate us to no end and confuse LO
