I imagined that they would be expensive, but just looked on amazon and see they aren't. Anyone have a review? My son is a fruit fiend but the dried stuff is so expensive I'd love to try my own. What do you use it for?

Re: Does anyone have a food dehydrator?
We have a Nesco one from Bed Bath & Beyond, it's pretty basic. We use it mostly for jerky, but I have done some fruit in it and it's ok. It's been over a year, but I did kiwi, apples, and a few other things that I can't remember now, the kiwi turned out awesome. They were really, really sweet, and I love kiwi fresh like crazy, but I loved these too. The apples I didn't like, I did a lemon soak beforehand to keep them from browning and I think I used too much lemon, not enough water, because once dried, they tasted like lemony apples
They would have been much better had I paid better attention to my soaking method I'm sure.
