Roisin is on our girl list, along with MaireadDD is Saoirse
I adore this name. Was on my list!
How does she fare w it?
Just fine Conversations go like this:
Random Stranger: What's your name?
DD: ::3yo version of her name, sounds like She-Shaw::
RS: What did she say? ::or their own translation of what they think they heard::
Me: Saoirse
RS: What?
Me: Saoirse
RS: How do you spell that?
Me: That won't help you
RS: Where's that from? (a handful of people asked if I made it up)
Me: It's Irish
RS: Oh, it's really pretty
Her preschool teachers practiced it for a couple of days. I told her swim instructors to forget what they read and just watch me pronounce it. Now they're all pros, LOL
And a few weeks after we moved into our current house, the newspaper had a picture of another Saoirse at an Irish celebration. She's in good company

Well now I'm curious what it is!
We have a friend who my husband grew up with and her name is Niamh. Took me forever to connect the spelling and the pronunciation together.
