Ok, so my main drive of my comp was almost full tonight and I tried to delete ANYTHING I could find that was a big file...I have cleared out all my documents, videos, pics, and music. I still only have 8gb free. It says I have less that 2gb worth of programs. Where the hell are the other 104 gb?!?! Any suggestions?
Re: I need a computer geek's help...anyone?
Seriously?
Edit: 7 Chrome processes open sorry...CPU running 0-3%
Are you serious? Do you know how boring it would be if we only talked about baby stuff!!! I was in a seriously bad mood today, so please cheer me up by being you! And I will just sit back and wait for flaming to begin!
Did you have all the boxes checked for what it cleans up? Like cookies and temporary files and everything?
I'm not going to lie: NRyan coming to save the day with her geek speak and bkeane's IT crowd gif gave me a nerd-girl hardon.
If it's cleanup you're interested in but the disk cleanup didn't work for you (as it would seem) then DH found this nifty freeware https://windirstat.info/ "WinDirStat" that can tell you what files are taking up the most space and how much. It scans all the files in your HDD instead of just the temporary "won't kill your computer if you delete this junk" sorts of files like your cookies.
"WinDirStat is a disk usage statistics viewer and cleanup tool for various versions of Microsoft Windows."
DH used it on my desktop last night and it's pretty to look at, which is a bonus - he's got like 8 years of IT under his belt and we take apart computers together so I trust it if he's installing crap on my machine.
Not much you can do if it's OS with updates besides get a bigger hard drive.
OH. I just had a brain... moment... thing... LIGHTBULB!
Do you have a lot of restore points saved from all the updates? Maybe that's taking up a bunch of space - especially if you have it set to automatically create restore points instead of manually.
