Wwyd?

We are having a party for one of my other kids this weekend. DHs friend has 4 kids. Sometimes they show up to our parties sometimes they don't. They most always say they are coming though so I always plan for the 2 adults and their 4 kids.

My issue is that money is tight right now and I don't want to buy the extra pack of party hats, extra favors, extra horn blowers and such if I don't know they are coming for sure, kwim? The favors for the kids are costing about 2 dollars per kid, so that's 8 for just that family. This may seem petty but do you think it's ok if I send them a quick text asking if they are for sure coming it not? Or should I just have enough for them incase they show up this time? Another reason I'm asking is because that's also 6 extra mouths to feed. I hope they come to the party but I just hate spending the extra if I don't need too, wwyd?

Re: Wwyd?

  • If they give you an answer, will you trust it?  I wouldn't, so I figure sending a text is probably a waste of time.  I would just not get enough favors for their kids and if they come, oops, sorry, didn't have enough because I didn't know you were coming.

  • I think it's okay to text and ask if they are coming. I would just say you are trying to get a final head count. If it makes you uncomfortable though I would just make sure you had enough.

  • I don't think it'd be rude at all to ask! I would understand anyone wanting a headcount for a party where people are being fed!

  • Thanks gals! I sent the text They said that they might stop by later in the evening. The party is at 2! Ha! People I swear, what ever.

I went to the store and I have enough favors for their kids but as far as the little party hats and the small craft I'm doing with each kid I didn't even bother. Thanks again!
