Flying Tips

We are flying next week and I need some travel tips. We never flew with DD until she was 1.5 so flying with a baby and dealing with bottles and food and all of that is all new to me. Any tips to make the traveling go smoothly?

Re: Flying Tips

  • Try and keep as much the same as possible - do you have a seat for LO?

Put all food / formula / etc in clear bags (ziplock is fine) and have them ready to be pulled out at security

You taking a stroller? Carseat? - I'd gate check them (if you can check Hawaiin we coudl check one or the other for free but not both) -

I wore LO in the ergo through security - they had to test my hands but I didn't have to take her off.

On the plane - anything and everythign that makes LO happy - paper? Puffs? sippy cup?  playing with your necklace? We even used sandra boyton android apps (moo baa la la la)

  • We flew twice in the past week and last month. Two things I think really helped us: Lay a blanket out on the floor next to the window by your gate. Your LO can hang out and sit or crawl and get some energy out. Also we board last so it's less time on the plane.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Remind yourself that you will never see any of the people on that plane* ever, ever again :)

*Sorry none of ya slept on that SFO red-eye last week!  HAHA!

    Love it!

What about baby food? Do you use those pouch things? I always buy jars so no clue how those pouch things work. It's moments like this where I feel like I've never had a baby before!

I brought the Gerber baby food in those plastic containers and not the jars. Security didn't even care. We had a bite to eat while we were waiting for our plane and fed Ashley at the same time. Also if you feed your little one puffs or Cheerios try putting them in a small tupperware container. It could be entertaining for your LO later to shake the container around.
