Gonna be a long day...

The worst thing in the world is telling a pregnant woman she can't eat.  My c-section is scheduled for 1:30pm today, and hospital rules state that I can't eat anything past midnight of the day before.  So I haven't eaten anything for breakfast this morning, and I AM SO HUNGRY!!!  Of course, my "last meal" last night included two helpings of salty chips, so I'm really dehydrated too.  I've been sneaking little sips of water here and there this morning, but I know once I get in the car to go to the hospital, that's it.  It's going to be a long day...

That sucks! I want to say I read something that that was an arbitrary rule, it actually was more important the number of hours prior to surgery. I'd trying searching for that if you're ok with ending the rules a little. I personally could not go 13.5 (or more) hours without eating.

    Good luck!

  • I'm so sorry! I hope you are alone at home because if it were me I would start biting anyone who was around.

    Good luck with your c-section!!!!

  • Ha. Mine is scheduled for 5 pm with the same rules put into place. Good luck!
  • Ugh.  This happened to me with DD1.  My water broke but I ended up being induced because contractions weren't starting on their own.  I didn't eat anything for over 12 hours.  I feel your pain lady.  Good Luck with the c-section though and can't wait to see pics of your LO!!

Yikes - good luck with that!!

I caved and had a cup of peppermint tea.  My stomach felt like it was going to eat itself from the inside out!

  • My water broke and I labored for 15 hours before I had the csection. I had not eaten since lunch time about 6 hours before my water broke and I wasn't allowed to eat until 24 hours after my csection. It stinks big time, but it will be here before you know it. Good luck today!

  • I was scheduled for a csection Wednesday and my water ended up breaking Sunday night! We had eaten a late dinner, around 8:30, so they waited until 2:30 AM Monday to csection him. I ended up throwing up 4 time on the operating table while they were stitching me up! Believe me, the fast is worth it. You don't want to be like me!
